Houston hospitals expect to exceed ICU capacity this week

"So, your sort of sideways point that nobody is willing to finger the protests for the spike in cases is probably correct. I did some work on this about a week ago, but am not willing to write about it myself, being a corporate tool. Math: Median time from exposure to symptoms (if you get them) is 5-6 days. Median time from symptoms to hospitalization is 7 days. Point is, hospitalizations should start to increase ~12 days from a super spreader event. Well, that is exactly when cases started to spike here in Austin. I graphed the “Texas reopening” orders against the Austin MSA hospitalization graph. No effect, until exactly 12 days after the first big demonstration. Here you go."
I also have no opinion as to the accuracy of the data, so take it for what it's worth.

Only evens with Republicans are superspreader events silly. It’s as if you can’t read a newspaper and comprehend it.

Of course not, the virus is apolitical. We know it skews disproportionately black and Hispanic. And the virus loves density. On the other hand we know that older folks far more likely to be hospitalized

I think we both violently agree that masks are the single most important thing we can do and a President who can’t make that point is not thinking about their long term. I would hope we would also agree that the population that it skews to is not taking Trump’s lead in not wearing masks.

It’s bad news for sure but it is not hard to create real makeshift ICU beds. It’s not like people will be turned away or care compromised.

If it's a real life ICU bed, it ain't as easy as you think it is.
That’s not what they are doing, I vent or some other breathing assist and more intense monitor. Lots of ICU surge capacity. Of course staff and PPE is another issue.

Absolutely!
Yup. Just common sense that there would be an equation between the two. In addition, based on the earlier sicknesses, it seems like black people are getting it more frequently unfortunately. And there is probably a higher level of black people in the marches.
