It's going to take a Detroit Exodus to get these people's attention.
I was talking to a couple of friends about this a few weeks ago. One of them (who lives on the border of Chicago) was somewhat optimistic that it won't happen.
This was before the mayoral election, it should be noted.

The Mayor-elect:
Yeah, you can eat those Gucci purses and shoes.
Ben Shapiro comments:
"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." -- HL Mencken
The news anchor who kept saying "condoning" instead of "condemning"...
But yes, it's not desperation "to eat" if you are able to wear those shoes and clothes. I do not mean this at all, but... people need a good reminder of what real tough times, starvation, the great depression,... now if you get someone's order wrong at McDonald's there is an uproar, fight, and a viral video.
Chicago needs a radical change, it seems, like the Rudy/NYC in the 90s.

Yup, people in the US really dont know what it is to not have.
I think a lot of "poor" people in the US think that they are poor if they cannot have the latest version of the iPhone.
Spend some time in India, or East Timor, or other rural places in Asia to see what poor really means.

Couple got attacked - police drove off. Can anyone blame them?

National Guard. MPs. Team them up with cops in standard policing and rapid response teams. It's worked before, it will work again.

He's spot on - the idiocy of the Democratic Party in Chicago is on full display, and the incoming mayor has shown himself to totally miss the issue, but conservatives also contribute by working assiduously to curtail access to contraceptive training and abortions. Once Pro-Life movement wins their moral victory of abstinence only education and a national abortion ban, things will grow exponentially worse. It would be in everyone's interest to free birth control and education. Sadly, both parties are working to make things worse.

I agree that abortion is a cultural lose for the right.

It's a loss for all of us as the world has plenty of poor, unskilled workers. Both political parties through their policies are doing their part to nurture growth in this group. Society can't sustain that.
