I just read a second person account of someone who’s Mom went back to South Korea and the GPS tracking app is exactly what she got along with other materials to survive the quarantine. It is a fascinating question as to whether Americans would agree to that. Just thinking about the Patriot Act for example.

My town is pretty OCD - so A. We have little traffic. People are out walking their dogs, some running. I run on the street and keep about 20 feet from anyone either direction. What's amusing to me is that is not enough for some folks. They will move across the street so we have 60-80 feet of distance. Go figure.
Driving through Chicago late at night - and got an emergency text saying - "you shouldn't be here" - kind of a Big Brother feeling to that.

I’m not sure about that. As the virus peaks wait for the next wave about jobs. This storm is going to be a lot shorter than the misery that follows. The layoffs and furloughs have only just begun.

How this work, what would we track?
People were required to input their local address along with their mobile phone number. They were then linked and through an app, if the phone was outside the local address, they would get a notification that could be followed by a visit and fine.
In addition, they would at random time send you a text (or call you) that you had to respond to to ensure you weren't just leaving your phone at home and going out.

I run on the paths and trails around my area, and while I move off to the side when I see someone coming towards me, there are still many who don´t budge at all. I also try to go in the off-hours as much as possible.
I´m trying to prepare myself for the day when they forbid running--all that huffing and puffing--but God, I hope it doesn´t come to that.
It´s nice seeing so many people outside enjoying nature, but if I see one more person taking a dump in the woods where they think they can´t be seen, I may need to just stick to the streets. Come on, people!

I think we are way past that.
This topic is the only topic for the next several years.
I expect that we will all deposit a blood sample with the government when we renew our driver's licences.
That sample will be used to track every disease known to man.
The company, hardware and software to do this may not exist today. But the amount of money involved in this business will be so big it will make this happen.
I hate this idea, but I expect it is certainly going to happen.
I base this expectation on the enormous overreaction to 9/11, that continues today.

I'm looking at 28 right now at rush hour (at the live cameras).
That is as quiet as I have ever seen it at rush hour. Of course it is usually a little lighter during this spring break week, but of course that doesn't apply this year.

I have talked to some friends who will go for a drive (never leaving the car) just to get out and get away from being in the house.
I would think that something like that would make it seem like social distancing is not going well, but it really is in fact going well.

We went to get takeout fried pork sandwiches at the local bar, there were a bunch of people who had taken out beer and were standing around the parking lot together drinking. People are not taking it very seriously here (well, some are, it depends on where you go). About half the people in walmart are wearing masks, but at the farm and feed store, I was the only one (beside the cashier).

I would agree with that, but I have pretty extensive experience with small town cops. Technically we'd be violating the order. I'd not wish to have done all this perfect isolation then end up in some petri dish of a jail cell.
This is not a time to be taking chances. As I told, well, pretty much everybody, it's a time to think with your head, not your heart.
