    All your bragging about "leaving the house sometimes", and look what it gets you.

    Education is extremely important.

        Ugh. Noses do tend to bleed, don't they?

        Glad you're (basically) OK.

        Did Mrs. Phibes at least get a chuckle out of it?

          I've had a broken nose that my wife gave me. Other than the deviated septum, it's not bad.

          You'll be fine.

            She didn't appreciate the blood I trailed into the house, but it seems to have washed out ok. My son thought it was hilarious, so unlike me he won't be getting any alcohol this evening.

            The nose has swollen up a bit at the top, but is ok apart from a bit of bleeding.

            All I can say is that it's a good job I'm so stoic.

            I was only joking

                The wind's blowing up a real storm today - About 20 minutes ago I heard a big crash, and our two wheelie-bins had blown over.

                I went outside to fix them, and was moving one around to the side of the house. A massive gust of wind blew the lid up - smacked me right in the nose. Blood everywhere. It doesn't appear to be broken (the nose, not the bin lid), but it hurts like a bastard. At least it's still straight. I had visions of looking like Owen Wilson.

                I hate it when winds cause things to fly out of place and make noise. Hate it more when they make noise and cause injury.

                I commiserate and empathise with you. Today whilst blowing snow from my back patio with the jet engine leaf blower, a snow shovel took wings and smite me most vicious.

                    @Jolly

                    Not at all. I ought to have moved the shovel away from the wall before setting the leaf blower at it.

                          A bit sore - I woke up with a streaming left eye at 3am this morning, which could be a side effect of the clout, or could be because it's so dry - it was about -10 degrees this morning. My nose has been streaming all morning, but at least it's not bleeding any more.

                          However, mustn't grumble. I'm going saxophone shopping in 15 minutes....
