After a year in the new house with the land line we have made and received a total of zero calls.

    So it is gone.

Not even a spam call for a whole year?
      That's incredible indeed!

I let ours go after my MIL passed. After that it was just the telemarketers.

We got one a few years ago (after the DC area earthquake) as we wanted something connected to copper (no pun intended) and not reliant on the cell towers. I was surprised how hard it was to convey to some Verizon employees the concept of a landline. They were asking if I wanted VOIP, etc. I was like no... I want something connected to the copper phone lines (transmit power and communications).

Anyway...we eventually got rid of it too.
