Anyone meekly accepting that he's "no better than an animal or an absolute savage" because some jamoke on the Net said so has more serious problems than faulty shopping cart disposal habits.

I find a huge chasm between how you treat people you deal with and shopping cart returns.

There are a lot of professional shopping cart fetchers who would be out of a job if everybody returned the cart neatly to the front of the store. Call me crazy, but I care about those people and their jobs - and the families those jobs support.

        Education is extremely important.

They're both actions in which you have a wide range of choice because doing the wrong thing isn't at all illegal. Therefore, paying attention to the choices people make in those settings is informative.

For hikers, it's packing out. There are many, many examples.

If you want to kill some time, this guy (Cart Narcs) has some entertaining (real) videos of him enforcing cart returns:

I put the cart neatly in the row back inside the store.

And I pick up other carts as I go.

And I run (pathetic old-man run) while doing it.

Probably the one thing that would get me to not return my cart is knowing there's some muther fucker with a camera that thinks he's gonna 'shame' me into doing so.

In any case, I think Aldis has already solved the issue. (the cart issue, not douchebaggery at large) A 25 cent deposit, and virtually all their carts get returned---not sprawled out all over the parking lot, rolling into peoples cars, etc. Great idea. Plus, if the weather sucks, I feel like leaving the cart out is simply paying for a service. 🙂

                      You guys are nuts.
Seriously. Shopping carts? Girly shopping carts??

I could see a serious discussion in regards to the big flat hand trucks that Costco has. Nothing more fun than running into things with one of those.

But shopping carts? You need to ascertain the difference between a molehill and a mountain.

And you need to ascertain the consequences of three months of lockdown. Seriously just what in the hell are we supposed to be doing on TNCR, solving the mind-body problem? Discovering tea brewing techniques that even Phibes could follow?

Yep, I remember in Spain having to pay for a cart many years ago, even before the euro.

@Aqua-Letifer I agree with you. I always return my cart, even if there is no deposit to be returned. I kind of get mad (but dont do anything about it) when I see people who do not return there cart.

This reminds me of a thread/post from like 15 years ago... I remember Kenny specifically mentioned that he would purposefully park far away from the entrance, just because it's easier to find a space, not have a car next to you, etc. Probably saved him on gas mileage too. 😆

I also do that, often parking near the outer edge of a parking lot. However for me it's often to get a shady spot under a tree when it's hot out!
