RIP Larry
-
I just got home from a 19 hour drive from FL. Passing through Tennessee, I always think of Larry and did so this time as well.
I am saddened to hear of his passing. He had a good heart and although he could be rather crass and some might say down right mean, I know that deep down he was a caring person who put others before himself.
My In-Laws were one couple he helped when they were shopping for an upright. I sent him a PM from inside Cordogan's Piano Gallery Geneva, IL, left my cell # and asked him to call me. 10 minutes later my phone rang and it was Larry on the other end.
What are you looking at Mark? Well, it's a toss-up between a used Yammaha and a brand new Bohemia upright. I told him the model of each and he proceeded to tell me all about both of them. In the end recommended the Bohemia and we bought it on the spot. What a sweet piano it is.
Thank you for being my friend, Larry. I will miss you. Damn screen is getting blurry. We didn't always agree on political stuff, but that stuff isn't important anyway.
Rest in peace, my friend.

hopefully I'll be drinking a beer with him
Up until a few weeks ago I was thinking I would meet Larry somewhere, someday. I just figured that sooner or later we would cross paths.
I liked the story he told, more than once, about secretly buying groceries for random strangers.

Larry was the last of the great internet warriors. I'm sad to see he’s gone. He was always faithful to himself and to the things and ideas he believed to be true. A lot of us have softened over the years, but Larry never did.
Larry was kind and loving in real life but he took his job on the internet in all seriousness. There were times I got along with him and times I didn’t, but I always appreciated him.
May God welcome him into His arms.

Thank you Jolly and it's nice to say hello. We've all kind of grown up a bit together.
I can't help but thinking of Larry up in heaven meeting God and finding out (by some off chance) that God's not a Dyed in the Wool, Blood of the Lamb, Baptist and then Larry sitting God down and quoting Him KJV chapter and verse explaining to God's why He's mistaken and why He should repent of his wrongful ways. That would be Larry.

I can see that too. Tom - I've been wondering where you've been and hope you and loved ones are well. Nice to see you here.

So good to see you here, man.
-
I just saw Dewey's essay about Larry's passing.
What a rotten thing to do.
Really cheap.
