He posted a recording of him playing one time. I tried to search our old haunt on zetaboards w/o success.

I think I may have saved it. If I remember, it was a "honky tonk" type song. I will see if I can find it.

How sad. The guy cared. He cared about his family and those around him. He even cared about what he was saying when he was fighting with you. I guess that's why he was likeable even when you were on the other end of it. I wish his family the strength to bear this.

Damn… yes, a real PITA at times, but he had his heart in the right place. RIP Larry.

This forum world will be different without Larry. I agree with everyone. He could an SOB, but a dependable one. Just want to offer my condolences, too. RIP Larry.

Oh wow!!! This really bothers me. I have tears in my eyes.

I consider all you guys here, some who I met in real life and some I have yet to meet, friends.

I was a bit to the left side of Larry, but then again, wasn't everybody? LOL And he could be a bit mean some times, but I think underneath he was a big teddy bear.

When I was growing up in the small village in Taiwan, there was a central square in front of the temple. Every evening, people would gather there - mainly guys at one area and ladies at another area. But each group would talk about the days events and solve the worlds problems (at least until the next day). I often think of this forum board (fondly) like that. I can imagine all of us sitting on the chairs in the square, @Larry giving his opinion on the current state of the country. All of us discussing the various things that we discuss here. Although (like in the discussions in the village square), there were disagreements, in the end, we all get along. Something like that is easy to picture in my mind.

My sympathy to Larry and his family and friends.

                Love you guys!!!!! 💕

@George-K thank you for keeping us updated, without your efforts it would've remained an unknown update longer than a tragedy should.

                  I will miss Larry greatly.

He always seemed like a guy you could call up at 2am on the side of a raining highway and ask for help, and he'd be there. He was passionate and cared deeply for his family, friends, and community. His breadth of knowledge was endless, without forgetting his love of pie. 🙂

I will miss our spirited debates and pray he rests in peace in Heaven, hopefully I'll be drinking a beer with him and many of us in the ultimate TNCR meet up decades from now.

I just got home from a 19 hour drive from FL. Passing through Tennessee, I always think of Larry and did so this time as well.

I am saddened to hear of his passing. He had a good heart and although he could be rather crass and some might say down right mean, I know that deep down he was a caring person who put others before himself.

My In-Laws were one couple he helped when they were shopping for an upright. I sent him a PM from inside Cordogan's Piano Gallery Geneva, IL, left my cell # and asked him to call me. 10 minutes later my phone rang and it was Larry on the other end.

What are you looking at Mark? Well, it's a toss-up between a used Yammaha and a brand new Bohemia upright. I told him the model of each and he proceeded to tell me all about both of them. In the end recommended the Bohemia and we bought it on the spot. What a sweet piano it is.

Thank you for being my friend, Larry. I will miss you. Damn screen is getting blurry. 😞 We didn't always agree on political stuff, but that stuff isn't important anyway.

                    Rest in peace, my friend.

Up until a few weeks ago I was thinking I would meet Larry somewhere, someday. I just figured that sooner or later we would cross paths.

I liked the story he told, more than once, about secretly buying groceries for random strangers.

Larry was the last of the great internet warriors. I'm sad to see he’s gone. He was always faithful to himself and to the things and ideas he believed to be true. A lot of us have softened over the years, but Larry never did.

Larry was kind and loving in real life but he took his job on the internet in all seriousness. There were times I got along with him and times I didn’t, but I always appreciated him.

May God welcome him into His arms.

That's another cantankerous SOB that I think is a first-class human. lb taught me a lot about pianos and the business of making them. I hope he's doing well.

I can't help but thinking of Larry up in heaven meeting God and finding out (by some off chance) that God's not a Dyed in the Wool, Blood of the Lamb, Baptist and then Larry sitting God down and quoting Him KJV chapter and verse explaining to God's why He's mistaken and why He should repent of his wrongful ways. That would be Larry.

I just saw Dewey's essay about Larry's passing.

What a rotten thing to do.

                                    Really cheap.
