I don't know enough about the industry to comment, so I'll just throw this out there:

Yes, you can blame Biden for crazy gas prices

This July 4th, as you fill up your car or truck, you might be tempted to blame President Joe Biden for high gasoline prices.

You shouldn’t, say some experts. It’s Russian President Vladimir Putin’s fault, they say. The US had to cut off Russian oil imports to punish Putin for invading Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Biden himself has blamed the American energy industry.

“At a time of war,” Biden wrote in an open letter to the industry on June 15, “high refinery profit margins being passed directly onto American families are not acceptable… companies must take immediate actions to increase the supply of gasoline, diesel, and other refined product.”

But US refineries are already operating at 94 percent of their capacity, with US refineries in the Gulf of Mexico running at 98 percent, which is the highest rate in 30 years. Running refineries at a higher capacity than that risks damaging the equipment. As such, Biden isn’t just wrong, he insulted some of the hardest working people operating in one of the most dangerous industries in America...

He could invoke the National Defense Act to accelerate the rate of oil and gas permits. He could set a floor of $80/barrel for re-filling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), which would be a powerful incentive for the industry, because it would prevent prices from falling to unprofitable levels. Biden could announce trade agreements with American allies to supply them with liquified natural gas, which would incentivize more natural gas production and lower prices.

How do Conservatives feel about the government meddling with production and setting prices of goods and commodities?

About the same way they feel about The Resident screwing up the energy sector by killing the Keystone Pipeline, not drilling on Federal lands , screwing with the Gulf leases and fucking over the refinery capacity (although to be fair, the last ain't all him).

But to make up for it, he is working for a gas tax holiday which will kill funding for infrastructure

That’s the point that @Doctor-Phibes is trying to make. The gas prices are not a US issue alone, and from that line of reasoning it seems to them that there is little or nothing that Biden has done or could do to affect the gas prices.

I've written Tweets, Facebook posts, hell recorded reels and the like for Important People before. I've never done it on the govvie/political side of things, but I'd be willling to bet it's pretty much the same shit:

It's a media team. Couple of doers who write the stuff/take the photos/put it all together, a manager who reviews the work who may or may not be in contact with the Important Person and has the conversation with them. Once all is approved, it gets punted out.

                              Please love yourself.

Of course, the flip side of this is the very real fact that oil IS a global market, as a result, Biden's actions DO have an impact on the global oil prices.

What do you think happens to the global market when the President of the world's largest oil-producing country in the world and the largest oil-consuming country in the world attacks the entire industry? When the guy campaigns on ending fossil fuel? When the first thing he does as President is to kill a major pipeline and cut many of the exploratory leases in the US? Pricing is based on more than just supply and demand. It's also based quite a bit on confidence levels. Biden is taking no steps to instill confidence. He is still stating every single day about how this is an incredible opportunity to end fossil fuels.

Putin exacerbated the situation, but the world has been seeing rising oil prices since Biden took office and a lot of that has been directly tied to Biden's politics.

ETA: But apparently she has almost 11 thousand people who hear what she wants to day.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

I've seen dumber and more annoying people with a lot more followers. 8 million people follow that odious twat Piers Morgan. That's more than fucking Hitler had.

But really, complaining about pointless cretins on Twitter is like complaining about the smell of shit emanating from the local pig farm. If I didn't like it, I probably shouldn't have moved next door.

                                          I was only joking
