It's odd how the mentally ill in other countries don't do this.
Mass shootings are up in Ukraine
I'm sure anyone can find statistics to support just about anything.

My question is how did he get in? We have gone to two local schools this week. Both of them required we be buzzed in.
If you were a former pupil, it probably wouldn't be that difficult to beat most school security. When I go, it's not exactly Fort Knox.
Not buying that. Why would a shady looking 18 year old have any business in an elementary school? His backpack alone would have set off my alarms, not to mention he just shot his grandmother and wrecked a truck. He’s not going to be normal acting.

That's OK, this conversation is older than that.
I think that data is kind of shaky, no matter how old it is.
I heard a guy was implying that this sort of murder only happens in the US. Here is a different point of view - with data! Maybe old shaky data, but better than shut up.

I haven’t seen anything about the shooter’s self identification. Where are you seeing that?
Apparently, a rumour started on 4Chan. According to this article, it's bogus.
- No, there is no evidence that the gunman was transgender.
Hours after the attack, a post on the fringe online message board 4chan circulated claiming that the gunman was transgender. Numerous photographs falsely claiming to show the gunman wearing women’s clothing were attached.
The authorities have said the gunman was male.
The unfounded claims made their way to Telegram channels of far-right militia groups such as the Proud Boys, where people falsely claimed that the shooting was a result of hormone therapy undertaken by the gunman.
By Wednesday, the claims that the gunman was transgender had been amplified by high-profile people such as Representative Paul Gosar, an Arizona Republican who was censured last year by the House after he posted a video that depicted him killing a Democratic lawmaker. Mr. Gosar’s Twitter post on the matter has been deleted.
Photos of dark-haired transgender women circulated alongside images of the gunman’s face, accompanied with false accusations that they were the same person. “There is an overwhelming number of individuals who are posting images of this person, who was the shooter, and information about the nature of them being transgender,” Stacy Washington, the host of the SiriusXM show “Stacy on the Right,” said on Tuesday night. She added: “We don’t have definitive proof, but I’d say, this many pictures? My goodness. There’s something going on here.”
On Tuesday, a transgender artist said on Reddit that people online “just took my photos and used it to spread misinformation.” After the artist posted other photos as proof, an account on Twitter that discusses gun rights deleted a post that had included the artist’s photo and apologized - No, there is no evidence that the gunman was transgender.

There's been some talk of Red Flag laws being an area of compromise.
All right, Dems. Make you a deal...This last shooter was transgendered. Let's go back to the future and label transgendered people as mentally ill and red flag their 4473.
I haven’t seen anything about the shooter’s self identification. Where are you seeing that?
Apparently, a rumour started on 4Chan. According to this article, it's bogus.
Ok, if it's bogus, it's bogus.
Now, I still consider transgendered teenagers to be mentally ill. Mentally ill people should not be allowed to purchase firearms.
How's that?

BTW, any of you feel like getting punched?
Civil discourse from celebs
I assume she has a well-armed bodyguard who would actually do the punching
"And I swear to God, if I see another Republican senator talk about their heart being broken I'ma go punch somebody!" she declared. "I can't take thoughts and prayers. If your thoughts and prayers were really with everybody, you'da done something by now."
Later in the show, co-host Ana Navarro suggested Republicans redirect their "thoughts and prayers" elsewhere.
"I hope they roll up their little thoughts and prayers into a suppository and find what to do with it," she said.

Mr. Obama and Mr. Biden are both screaming about gun lobbies!
Tired talking points from 25 years ago.
The NRA is on the rocks and may be about to go out of business.
That makes them a safe target, they don't have enough money to influence hardly anything any more.
I don't think there is a powerful gun lobby any more, its not the NRA. I used to be a member, I lost interest.

I'd be perfectly OK with teenagers of any persuasion not being allowed to purchase firearms period.
They're not allowed to buy a beer - why stop there?

Actually, the law usually runs 18 for long arms, 21 for handguns.
You avoided the mentally ill question, which is a hard question to answer...

I don't really see the point of picking on that particular minority as such. Have they been shown to be more likely to kill people than other gun owners?
I do know that people use the term 'mentally ill' to cover a wide variety of conditions, but like the woman said, I'm not a psychiatrist.

From a clip I saw, he ran into the building quickly. Not sure if he drove there or what. Sounds like it was an unlocked emergency exit door of a vacant classroom, that was adjacent to the 4th grade classroom where he did all the damage.

Pick another minority. It doesn't matter. The essential question boils down to who is mentally ill and at what point do we take their Constitutional rights away from them?
