Karla and I went out to a nice steakhouse for our anniversary and when we received the bill there was a 10% Service Charge on there. WTF? I’ve seen restaurants that have a service charge from 18%-20% on their bills in lieu of tipping, but 10%? What do you do there?

I moved the tip from 20% down to 10% on the card then left another 5% in cash on the table… I hope that’s appropriate? Why is the whole tipping thing getting so complicated?

Hmm yeah that is weird for a sit-down restaurant. Heck, you could even call today and ask the manager what it was just out of pure curiosity.

        Yeah, that's beyond weird.

A less obvious way would be to raise prices 10%, but that might cost business. Probably would.

But yeah, I'd call and ask. Also, I wonder if that surcharge was disclosed on the menu, like a surcharge for large parties.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
