Yeah! Let's just wear masks forever.
Think of all the diseases we wouldn't get.
But then again, think of all the diseases we would get, that we otherwise would be immune to.Solution: Wear the masks for 4-hours on, 2-hours off, daily. Guaranteed that at some point, you would be saved from the Wuhan Flu without even knowing it. Then, you'd get a cold and maybe go feet-up.
But if the government says to do it, this week, then I'll do it because I have confidence in the extraordinary people in government. They are, like, a higher life form, and should not be questioned. They know stuff and junk. -
I suppose it's too late to suggest using common sense? Wear a mask at the shops, but not in the house? Wear a mask if you're going to come into close proximity? Basically, what George said.
Other tips:
Don't show up at the beach and go frolicking around like a stupid twat.
Don't get together with 20 friends at the park and play baseball like a stupid twat.
Don't mention the US Constitution when debating whether you should wear mask. It's a sure fire clue that you're a stupid twat.

It wasn't sarcastic, he genuinely lacked the political courage to implore people to wear masks. He clearly wants that but his political calculus had him swinging away at the straw man about people who hate others for wearing masks. Who I imagine don't much exist.

Or maybe they’ve been imploring mask usage for weeks and now he’s trying to fight an ossifying stigma against usage within a particular political tribe.

Well I am definitely with the governor in his stance against those who want to hate or shame mask wearers. Meanwhile everybody is wearing a mask wherever I go around here, so as usual I am at a loss to personally identify with these political subcultures we discuss so often online. I do understand having a principled reaction against being required by law to wear a mask, though, and can identify with that. Shaming/hating people for wearing masks? Nope, don't really think it's a thing.
Education is extremely important.

About 1 out of 10 people in Ellicott City yesterday were wearing masks. Tons of foot traffic, no social distancing, 1 out of fucking 10.

No, I really do see stigmatization everywhere, usually in the form of sane vs crazy, or smart vs stupid, or moral vs immoral framings of every important political question.

Big crowds and many without masks in Minneapolis protests today. They didn’t look like Trump supporters. Wonder if it will become a hot spot of a different nature. Will that story be covered?
