For those who blame Trump for antivax
-
Trump made anti-vax statements for many years, and even for a while after COVID became a thing he downplayed the seriousness of it and implied many times the government couldn't be trusted. Does he get credit for the speed of vaccines, yes partially, just as he gets partial credit for planting the seed of doubt among many of his supporters. The fact that it's newsworthy that he "reveals" he has the booster is a testament to the fact that many people by default would not be sure if the former president was vaccinated.

Pure bull shit.

Yes, I might have guessed when you do it it’s important work, but when I do it it’s just childish piling on
The broader culture is what it is, and while it's uncomfortable for you to admit that the left is the dominant force, that doesn't make it less so.

anti-vax statements for many years
What years were those?
You remember these conversations.
To be fair, as far as medical hypotheses go, Trump's idea is not completely crazy. Or at least it wouldn't be if this were still 1998.
That year, a well-respected journal published a paper by researcher Andrew Wakefield and 12 of his colleagues linking a standard measles, mumps and rubella vaccine to autism. Despite its tiny sample size of 12 and its speculative conclusions, the study was publicized far and wide -- launching a global movement involving celebrities like Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey (and of course Trump) who warned parents to stop vaccinating their children. The result was what public health officials reported was a dangerous drop in MMR vaccinations.

The Three Wise Men of modern times.

Well, Trump has "followed the science." His place in the triumvirate has been assumed by Robert Kennedy Jr.

2007, 2009, 2012, 2015, ...
You know, right around the time of his failed obsession with Obama's birth certificate.

@89th my bad, I should have been more specific.
During what years was Trump against the COVID vaccine?
I think 89 was making point that Trump has generally held anti-vax views.

You mean back when he was discussing the accuracy of Hillary Clinton's claim?

Link to videoIn that video Trump said, and I quote "I AM TOTALLY IN FAVOR OF VACCINES". Yet you offer it up as "evidence" that he was anti vaccines, and with a straight face you expect to be taken seriously...

“I’m totally in favor of vaccines, but the way we give them now probably give kids autism”
Fair paraphrase?
-
@copper said in For those who blame Trump for antivax:
More fair would be, we don't know everything there is to know about vaccines and there has been one case where there were apparently unpleasant side-effects.
"probably" gives autism, that is really out of line as a paraphrase
Interesting interpretation. Here’s a direct quote from that same video:
“I’m totally in favor of vaccines… but I want smaller doses over a longer period of time… because you take a baby in…”
So you’re saying he wants to change the vax protocols to prevent autism because an N=1 anecdote?
-
Guess who is anti-vax!
'Over my dead body' will I get the COVID-19 vaccine

This is the problem, that we are even discussing what Trump suggested regarding vaccines. Nearly every business entity that Trump has created has failed and gone bankrupt. And that is the business industry...something Trump is an expert it. Now let's talk the medical industry, something Trump knows nothing about but is given a national stage and uses it to say, "I'm all in favor for vaccines, but let me tell you the story of a beautiful healthy baby who had a vaccine and then BOOM.... autistic." Yeah, let's defend this guy's medical opinion.

No, you know I'm not saying that.
I'm answering your question, it was not a fair paraphrase.
