This has been a fallacy from day one. I also remember aa candidate who said he would shut down the virus.

I don't blame Trump, but I do blame some of his supporters, some of whom are every bit as stupid as the woke lefties we keep hearing about.

The problem is that it's become politicised, and it's a really, really stupid thing to get political over.

        I was only joking

Sounds like a convenient way to associate a politician you don't like, with ideas you don't like, even though the politician doesn't advance those particular ideas. There are plenty of valid reasons to dislike Trump, you don't need to invent more.

No, I'm really not trying to associate his views with those of the anti-vaxxers. I thought his performance during the pandemic was mixed - I thought that him lighting a fire under the FDA to a get a vaccine out was a really good thing, but I thought some of his own personal communications were awful beyond belief.

What I'm getting at is a deep vein of stupidity among groups other than the woke left. They are clearly not alone in being dense beyond belief.

The woke are alone in their cultural veneration as they live out their stupidity. That's why it's important to acknowledge their stupidity and attempt to shame them for it, while it's basically cathartic piling on to giggle at the stupidity of anti-vaxxers.

Trump made anti-vax statements for many years, and even for a while after COVID became a thing he downplayed the seriousness of it and implied many times the government couldn't be trusted. Does he get credit for the speed of vaccines, yes partially, just as he gets partial credit for planting the seed of doubt among many of his supporters. The fact that it's newsworthy that he "reveals" he has the booster is a testament to the fact that many people by default would not be sure if the former president was vaccinated.

The broader culture is what it is, and while it's uncomfortable for you to admit that the left is the dominant force, that doesn't make it less so.

                          You remember these conversations.

To be fair, as far as medical hypotheses go, Trump's idea is not completely crazy. Or at least it wouldn't be if this were still 1998.

That year, a well-respected journal published a paper by researcher Andrew Wakefield and 12 of his colleagues linking a standard measles, mumps and rubella vaccine to autism. Despite its tiny sample size of 12 and its speculative conclusions, the study was publicized far and wide -- launching a global movement involving celebrities like Jenny McCarthy, Jim Carrey (and of course Trump) who warned parents to stop vaccinating their children. The result was what public health officials reported was a dangerous drop in MMR vaccinations.

During what years was Trump against the COVID vaccine?

@89th my bad, I should have been more specific.

During what years was Trump against the COVID vaccine?

I think 89 was making point that Trump has generally held anti-vax views.

I understand that, and that's why I rephrased my question.

Did he ever hold anti-vax view wrt COVID?

                                        anti-vax statements for many years

                                        What years were those?

                                        2007, 2009, 2012, 2015, ...

You know, right around the time of his failed obsession with Obama's birth certificate.

In that video Trump said, and I quote "I AM TOTALLY IN FAVOR OF VACCINES". Yet you offer it up as "evidence" that he was anti vaccines, and with a straight face you expect to be taken seriously...
