This tribalism is about to destroy this whole frigging thing.

It's not as much tribalism as media sensationalism. They want eyeballs, Truth be damned.

A train wreck might get some eyeballs, but train wrecks don't make people feel good about themselves, unless they can somehow blame their tribe's enemy for it. The eyeballs are attracted to corporate media mostly because the media is in service of the tribalism. And tribalism is effective because it relates directly to meaning in a person's life. It reinforces their belief that they are on right side of history.

    Education is extremely important.

But they apply the tribal spin to get those eyeballs. If we were better viewers and consumers of media, we wouldn’t be in this situation and the media wouldn’t be as bad as it is.

And that does apply to both sides. One side may be more extreme about it, but that doesn’t absolve the other.

It's not just the CNNs and MSNBCs of the world. Fictitious leftist narratives are propagated everywhere from TV to movies to music to the classroom, grade one through university. But those reacting against "critical race theory" are just whatabouted out of the conversation, as if they're just as bad as the other tribe. Because they're reacting against total cultural domination of fictitious and destructive narratives. There's no way humans are going to be able to discard the nonsense out of the overwhelming tide of fiction they're fed from birth. That's not how humans operate.

And that does apply to both sides. One side may be more extreme about it, but that doesn’t absolve the other.

Well, it's about triaging the problems.

          critical race theory

There is no equivalence there, CRT has been and is being promoted in schools. Oh, it might not be the exact same legal theory as proposed in Law Schools, but it is still based on the same “Antiracist, white fragility” crap, and the problem is that a milder version of the same curriculum has been in the schools for a generation without us realizing it. That’s why there is such a huge disconnect.

Norfolk VA cop fired because he anonymously donated $25 to Rittenhouse defense fund. He should end up with a big settlement if the facts are as he states.

At the danger of repeating myself once again, the US needs to tighten up the laws regarding the reporting of criminal cases.

Journalists who attempt to follow a juror home should go to jail.

Taking cameras out of the court room wouldn’t hurt, either. The media and a lot of the public are treating this like reality TV.

Complaining isn’t going to fix this.

I agree with you. I'd also like to see the defendant's name not released until after the trial is over.

                                Dear church,

In the book of Leviticus we read: "You shall not render an unjust judgment; you shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great: with justice you shall judge your neighbor" (19:15).

Our social message on Community Violence urges us to become more involved in countering the reality and fear of violence in our communities and our neighbors' communities, pursuing justice and seeking peace no matter how long the journey or complex the challenge.

When a child is allowed to become a vigilante without recourse, we are forced to confront the idols of our society: guns, violence and white supremacy. To be sure, this is not about one person, but indeed about all of us, together.

Today's acquittal is an injustice. It points to the disorder in which we all live. As we seek to restore justice; so also will we restore God to God's rightful place at the center of our life together.

                                In Christ,

                                The Rev. Elizabeth A. Eaton

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Everybody keeps using the word Vigilantism… My vocabulary must be even worse than I thought, because the word obviously doesn’t mean what I thought it did so please help me out.

                                        Does Vigilantism mean:

                                        A) Cleaning Graffiti?
                                        B) Putting out small fires?
                                        C) Handing out medical supplies?
                                        D) Asking people to not loot and vandalize a car dealership?
                                        E) Running from a mob that is chasing you?
                                        F) Getting hit by rocks and other objects?
                                        G) Having an insane, suicidal pedophile try to grab your gun and only defending yourself then?
                                        H) Shoot at another guy AFTER he tries to kick your skull in?
                                        I) Shoot another guy AFTER he has started beating you in the head with a skateboard?
                                        J) Shooting another guy AFTER he pointed a gun at you after pretending to surrender?

So which of that is vigilantism?

                                          In Christ,

Eaton
                                          Presiding Bishop
                                          Evangelical Lutheran Church in America

I think God would say the reverend takes a lot on himself...

I'm a recovering Baptist. Women have no business in the pulpit. If God doesn't delineate that role for them, who am I to argue?

Queers don't have any business being in the pulpit, either.
