I have never trusted the government, but I sure as heck wanted to get vaccinated.

The idea that the government has only become untrustworthy in the last few years is ridiculous. Just look at the stuff that went on in the past.

    I was only joking

@bachophile I don't think it's necessarily mistrust of government. It's a cultural signal to be anti-vax. Some people are getting vaxxed in secret so their family and friends don't know.

It's a similar phenomenon to virtue signaling.

As far as irrational ideas people believe due to culture, I don't suspect vaccination hesitancy will be on the radar historically. None of this should be flabbergasting if you understand that humans believe what their culture tells them to believe. No fainting couch required at that observation. It is how humans operate.

        Education is extremely important.

Just like the left can't seem to understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration...

          They conflate anti-mandate with anti-vax. The issue is not anti-vax. It's anti-mandate.

And until natural immunity is considered in the equation, it's not going to change.

We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.

I’m also anti mandate. I think one of the saddest things in the world is that people are not smart enough to figure out this is something you decide to do on your own. Even if the government said no mandates at all. All personal choice. I cannot for the life of me understand someone not doing it. At least now with data on millions.

i accept the fact there are people who dont trust government.

what i find hard to accept is using that as a reason not to get vaccinated.

                                  the government didn't invent vaccines.

Good point. Despite its regulatory and enforcement authority and responsibility, government is only one of several messengers in support of mass vaccination.

But I do agree, it is political or so it is where I live. Thankfully, the argument that vaccine mandates violate the Nuremberg Accord rings hollow and just isn’t convincing to most folks to support the cause.

Now, let’s say that a few districts in Detroit, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Milwaukee had .05% lower turnout and Donald Trump won the election. What would those vaccination numbers by party look like? My bet is that the Republican numbers would be about the same and the Democrat numbers would be far lower, as it would have well and truly been considered a Trump vaccine.
