@Horace said in Sapiosexual: Sapiosexuals are described as people who are physically, emotionally, romantically, and relationally attracted by intelligence. They find intelligence to be the most important and erotic trait, and value it more than a potential partner's physical appearance, status, emotional connection, and even personality. People often ask me, what are some of the drawbacks of being a public intellectual? Well, one of them is dealing with all the sapiosexual women throwing themselves at you. It takes a very strong psyche not to begin seeing women as objects. Thankfully, public intellectuals have such a strong psyche. We all have our cross to bear.

It's 17 degrees right now - that's -8.3 for our Celsius friends. We're supposed to get about a foot of snow starting later today/tomorrow. Lots of Christmas travel is being postponed. D2 will not arrive Friday, but Saturday, weather permitting. Everyone else is local, so... Amtrak has cancelled the Empire Builder for 3 days. It would suck to have made travel plans on the train...

@Mik said in Meanwhile, at the dinner table...: J&B - the trans scotch. One would think that would be at best a limited market segment. It's the fact that they're advertising it in Spain that struck me. It's not exactly the first nation that springs to mind when it comes to whisky sales.

@Doctor-Phibes said in Nuclear Households: When I was growing up in the UK, we always thought of America as having a really high divorce rate. I'm sure it's a stereotype, but after living here for 20 years I'm also sure there's some truth to it. The numbers are old, but I imagine the trend hasn't changed much. https://divorcescience.org/for-students/world-divorce-statistics-comparisons-among-countries/ Note the USA was at 2.8 and the UK at 2.1. [image: 1671627369789-image.jpeg] Interesting numbers here: https://www.unifiedlawyers.com.au/blog/global-divorce-rates-statistics/ [image: 1671627316706-screenshot-2022-12-21-at-6.54.57-am.png] What's the old saw? "Half of all marriages end in divorce. The other half ends in death."

@taiwan_girl That's a dirty little secret of college sports... A four year athletic scholarship is actually four one-year scholarships. Most schools uphold their end of the bargain, should a player become injured, etc., but they don't have to.

Jefferson had the most slaves of any serving president and U. S. Grant had one for about year until 1859 when he made him a free man. What were the slaves skin colors? Midnight and Quarter to 12. What did you think, Toby?
