In some families, 180 sentence would have meant he might live 180 days before he had an accident cleaning his gun, fell asleep on train tracks, or did a slip and fall into a stone quary.

@George-K said in Well, I shot a hole in my trashcan...: Curious. Why shoot the possum? From what I've read they're great at removing other pests (insects, etc.). I know if they get into a barn and pee on the hay, it can be a big problem for whatever eats the hay.

Apparently, there's no "bottom" for [this guy](There’s no bottom for this guy) either. A short-term staffer for George Santos claims he was sexually harassed by the disgraced Long Island representative, who allegedly touched his groin and invited him home, according to an ethics complaint the man says he filed. Derek Myers — a former journalist who secretly tape-recorded Santos admitting that he “lied to everyone” — tweeted that he complained to the Office of Congressional Ethics and the United States Capitol Police about the alleged harassment. Myers, 30, contends that Santos hired him as an assistant on Jan. 23 and that two days later, they were in the rep’s Washington, DC, office going over the mail. He claims that Santos wanted them to sit together on a small sofa, then put his hand on his knee and said, “Hey buddy, we’re going to karaoke tonight. Would you like to go?'”, according to a copy of the complaint tweeted by Myers. “I kindly declined the invitation by telling the Congressman I was not a fan of clubs and bars and that I was not a good singer. The Congressman proceeded to take his hand and move it down my leg into my inner thigh and proceeded to touch my groin,” the complaint said.

@Aqua-Letifer said in Swimmers: @89th said in Swimmers: @Aqua-Letifer said in Swimmers: FOUNDERING. Not floundering. FFS. Wouldn’t that depend if the boat was totally disabled or if it was still trying to move? I can’t tell in the video if the boat’s engines are dead or not. "Floundering" would mean acting and moving like a flounder. Which would mean wriggling back and forth violently and incessantly while trying to free yourself from a line. Flounders don't bob and sway lazily on the surface waiting to be rescued. It's fucking foundering. I’d agree with that, the boat (regardless of engines) was just floating there like an obese person in a wave pool. I also didn’t know of flounder vs founder.

@Mik said in Jan. 6 defendants lying to the Courts?: So they have to be sincere? You haven’t spent much time in a courtroom, have you? It’s not that they should be sincere, it’s that they should be smart enough not to brag about their insincerity in the press between their guilty plea and sentencing. But again, these are not very bright guys. Really by definition. These are the imbeciles who couldn’t even see through Trump in January of 2021.

@Doctor-Phibes said in A great SNL skit: There's nothing funny about American politics, Jon. Shame on you. I’m imagining a skit where leftists consider supporting Freddie Kruger or Jason or Dracula or Godzilla. They would say positive things about them, like Dracula has a lot of executive experience as a Count, or Godzilla would reduce the need for a defense budget. Then they would see polling data indicating DeSantis would beat them and they’d give the horror movie scream.

Saints have done it multiple times. It is a courtesy and a sign of respect for a player's career.

I well remember the start of two-a-days one August...Morning practice, Coach picked two captains, who then picked their team in alternating fashion. Shorts, t-shirts and helmets.. Half of each team was lined up on the back line of the end zone, with the other half 120 yards away on the opposite end line. Relay races, on the whistle. First, sprint. Then, sprint backwards. Bear crawl, Crab crawl and finish up with a regular sprint. Winner gets to run a half-mile, loser gets to run a mile. Ok guys, take ten, then we're hitting the pool. Same teams. Relay races in the pool. Hit the showers and break off in groups for skull sessions. Afternoon was much the same, except after out football field races and half-mile or mile runs, we started putting in offense and defense. Second week, we dropped the races and put on the pads for the next two weeks. Small fact of life...you can run and projectile vomit at the same time.

I always enjoyed watching Norm work. His workmanship was, well, workman-like. I'm no pro, but I can follow a set of instructions, and occasionally I can design something serviceable, like my desk. But I enjoy nit-picking his technique, and I always thought he used nails too often.

This week's NEJM: Cerebral Cystic Echinococcosis A previously healthy 14-year-old boy who lived on a farm presented with a 1-month history of episodic headaches associated with vomiting. Physical examination was notable for papilledema. Magnetic resonance imaging of the head showed a multiloculated cyst measuring 6.0 cm by 6.2 cm by 5.8 cm in the right temporoparietal region of the brain (Panel A, sagittal view, T1-weighted) with a hypointense rim and small projections in T2 phase (Panel B, axial view, arrow), findings suggestive of cystic echinococcosis. Computed tomography of the body showed no other sites of disease. A craniotomy was performed to excise the cyst. Saline irrigation was used to separate the cyst wall from the brain to avoid rupture (Panel C and video). Histopathological examination revealed an echinococcal laminated membrane lined by a germinal layer with daughter cysts (Panel D, arrows) and protoscolices (inset, arrows) with hooklets (arrowhead). A diagnosis of primary cerebral cystic echinococcosis from Echinococcus granulosus was made. Echinococcal cysts — also called hydatid cysts — most commonly form in the liver. The infection is transmitted to humans through contact with infected livestock or canine feces, as was likely to have happened in this case. Symptoms evolve if the cysts exert a mass effect. A 3-month course of albendazole was prescribed at discharge. At the 2-week follow-up, the patient’s symptoms had resolved. [image: 1675519465640-image.jpeg] This case is the one with the video I posted earlier. "A previously healthy 14-year-old boy presented with episodic headaches associated with vomiting. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a multiloculated cyst in the right temporoparietal region of the brain. A craniotomy was performed, during which saline irrigation was used to separate the cyst wall from the brain to avoid rupture."
