I am surprised it took until now for this warning to be issued.

It will be interesting. I believe that some of the candidates will start to "move away" from President Trump. "President Trump is a good guy and was a good president. However, vote for me instead!" That type of attitude seems to have no chance of winning. If you truly believe that, then you should not be in the candidacy.

There are lots of storefront signs around here saying no guns are allowed on premises. Especially you see those signs at liquor stores. Unclear what is the point of keeping rule-followers from having guns in the store.

There used to be a limit on how far you could fly from Reagan National, Dallas was beyond the limit. So American had a flight that stopped at Dulles for just a few minutes, a few passengers got off, none got on. I would be booked to get off at Dulles, but if there was a happy hour downtown, I would stay on for the trip to DCA. The flight from IAD to DCA was only a few minutes, the price was the same. It was legal either way, American didn't care.

The left has branded the word internally as a gigglable word crime, spoken only by conservotards, who inevitably won't be able to define it anyway. The most recent evidence I've seen for this was on the Sam Harris podcast, where Sam was talking to a never-Trumper former conservative pundit. He now works for the NYT. In trying to describe why Trump supporters exist, he apologetically uses the word "woke". He quickly notes that the word "woke" is past its use by date, and he wouldn't use it, except to describe why conservotards are so consumed with rage.

@George-K said in Jimmy Carter - Home Hospice Care: @jon-nyc said in Jimmy Carter - Home Hospice Care: To think of a president living more than 4 decades after leaving office. Trump will do that, albeit in some people's heads. I'd say there's also a fair-to-middling chance that after being convicted he will ascend into heaven and sit on the right hand of the Father for eternity. And if you think you've got it bad, imagine having Donald Trump sit on your hand for eternity - or even just for 5 minutes.

@LuFins-Dad said in No transgenders in chess?: The stories don’t explain why… Why there’s a separate women’s tournament and why the 4 time champion and highest ranking woman in the world is ranked 75th in the combined rankings and wouldn’t even qualify for the top tournaments. That's an interesting topic. It's not impossible for women to compete with men - Judit Polgar was rated 8th in the world at one point, and had a rating over 2700 - super-grandmaster level. However, she's really the only one who's managed it. Hou Yifan was ranked 75th, but has beaten some strong male players over the years. To be fair to her, she also had a life out of chess, she was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford while she was playing professionally, and you can't really crack the top tier without dedicating your entire working life to chess.

@89th said in Careful shopping on Amazon: Reminds me of the recent "Prime Day". If you used camelcamelcamel.com (yes a real website) it was clear some of the things I was looking at were not deals at all, but price increases. Yep, quite familiar. You can get tons of crap at nearly half off if you're willing to wait.

There are reasons... I get eaten alive whereas my wife doesn't get touched. Not fair, I always have thought it was because of me (or males, in general?) having a higher body temperature and/or sweat.
