Twitter started paying content producers a bit based on interaction with their accounts, so long as they’re subscribers. Apparently getting lots of replies is much more lucrative than lots of views. That’s why some accounts have started asking questions to their followers. Example, the cute-animal account that George often quotes here recently asked its followers to post pictures of their pets. I assume that was for $

@George-K said in Making handmade saxophones: Stupid question: Why don't brass instruments tarnish? Are they lacquered to prevent that? Yes, they're normally lacquered. It does wear off over time and they will tarnish. There's also been a bit of a fad for unlacquered ones of late. I bought a cheap second-hand tenor sax that was unlacquered, but I don't like how it looks at all. You can see the solder, and it goes green. It's a bit like that stupid fad for pre-aged guitars. They look well-played, which saves the people who buy them from having to practice.

While we're on the subject... Hie thee to your nearest oil well and the collection tank. Steal 10-15 gallons of crude oil. Mix the crude oil with diesel fuel, to where it's thin enough to apply with a deck sprayer. Makes a decent exterior penetrating stain for a board-n-batten barn or house.

Always knew those Bloc Québécois were suspicious. That’s why I always vote for their candidate in my riding in federal elections.

The undisputed facts: Shokin was investigating Burisma Ukraine was scheduled to get $1B in aid, that deal was made before Biden visited Ukraine Ambassador Nuland praised the Ukrainian governments (specifically Shokin) efforts on behalf of then SecState Kerry Joe Biden wanted Shokin fired Shokin was fired Nuland's memo: [image: 1693007091927-screenshot-2023-08-25-at-6.43.43-pm.png] [image: 1693007097161-screenshot-2023-08-25-at-6.43.58-pm.png] [image: 1693007102279-screenshot-2023-08-25-at-6.44.12-pm.png] One can speculate about Shokin's motivation and him being disgruntled. What I posted doesn't speak to that, only to what we know to be true. So, why was Shokin fired?

You are right, of course. Nobody would trade stocks based on emotion. It is just too important for that.

@jon-nyc said in A Christmas Gift for Jon?: @Horace said in A Christmas Gift for Jon?: It's important to set solid precedent of our future cherished tradition of the peaceful surrender to the authorities of the previously elected president. My hope is that Biden has the strength of character and hip to walk into the police station as Trump did. Like the people who claim blacks suffer from racism due to ‘mass incarceration’, you are failing to adjust for the difference in the base rate of criminality. What Biden had done is selling out his country for profit. In a better day, we used to hang people like that.

I wonder what is a "homophobic slur". But, unfortunately they can not define "homophobic slurs" because they don't want to go to prison.

Only the conductor gets paid in our local symphony. The players volunteer. The majority are teachers and doctors.
