@kluurs said in Dumb Americans Exist: The investment of a few hours (1-3) at the start of one's career can the make the difference between a healthy retirement and homelessness. Me being around people who run and are fitness focused, I know a few folks who plan on working forever which they fail to realize may not be fully within their control. OTOH, I do know one person who is over 100, still goes to the office every day - but had the resources to retire 50 years ago. It is fickle finger of fate that rules the day. Note the rise of the "bracket 401k". No, you don't have to think...You have a 35 year retirement date, you're going into this fund. We'll change investment mixtures for you as time passes.

Even though Medicaid is administered by the state, it's Federal money. No bleed over?

@Renauda said in Don't Play with Wolves: It always amazes me that there are allegedly educated people who really do not understand the meaning of the adjective wild in describing an apex predatory animal. Wolves only resemble dogs. Exactly. Same with "Grizzly Man" https://allthatsinteresting.com/timothy-treadwell Timothy Treadwell Devoted His Life To Grizzly Bears — Until They Ate Him

https://www.thestreet.com/automotive/the-longest-lasting-car-models-200k-miles-according-to-consumer-reports Back in the early aughts, conventional folk wisdom (i.e., the author’s dad) said that cars from Japanese automakers Toyota and Honda tended to be among the most reliable and long-lasting. Fast forward two decades or so, and that opinion remains relatively pervasive among auto enthusiasts. But is it true? Well, yes — at least according to research conducted by Consumer Reports. Based on surveys of its members regarding their own vehicles, 11 out of the 12 models that tend to make it past the 200,000-mile mark with the fewest major problems are Toyotas or Hondas. Here is the list (per consumer reports) Toyota Camry Type: Midsize sedan Estimated mpg (new): 32 Overall Consumer Reports score: 88 Toyota Prius Type: Compact hatchback (hybrid) Estimated mpg (new): 51 Overall Consumer Reports score: 80 Honda Accord Type: Midsize sedan Estimated mpg (new): 32 Overall Consumer Reports score: 78 Honda CR-V Type: Compact crossover SUV Estimated mpg (new): 26 Overall Consumer Reports score: 85 Toyota Tacoma Type: Pickup truck Estimated mpg (new): 21 Overall Consumer Reports score: N/A Toyota Tundra Type: Full-size pickup truck Estimated mpg (new): 17 Overall Consumer Reports score: 54 Toyota Corolla Type: Compact sedan, hatchback, or wagon Estimated mpg (new): 36 Overall Consumer Reports score: 75 Honda Odyssey Type: Minivan Estimated mpg (new): 22 Overall Consumer Reports score: 76 Ford F-150 Type: Full-size pickup truck Estimated mpg (new): 19 Overall Consumer Reports score: 63 Toyota 4Runner Type: Mid-size SUV Estimated mpg (new): 17 Overall Consumer Reports score: 63

Maybe not a bad idea. No publicity or acknowledgment, but give a back channel warning to Iran.

What do you think that odds are that these Chinese villagers will be able to get something from the Chinese government? LOL Suspected debris from a Chinese rocket was seen plummeting to the ground over a village in southwest China on Saturday, leaving a trail of bright yellow smoke and sending villagers running, according to videos on Chinese social media and sent to CNN by a local witness.
