Unlike elsewhere, in SE Asia religion is what adds sizzle to the rabble’s flambé.

Duke endorsed Trump too in 2016 and then in 2020. Maybe the guy just wants some attention?

@Mik said in How long to preheat cast iron to cook a steak: But not for half an hour. The benzene from the gas stove would kill you. Oh, no. Plus, it’s an electric. But beyond that, it’s completely unnecessary. Cast Iron is fantastic at heat conduction and retention. No need to have it at temp even as long as stainless steel..

@LuFins-Dad said in British Riot Thread?: I’m kind of surprised there wasn’t a thread about what’s going on in the UK. Edit: I see you already found that not to have been the case..

@Axtremus said in First they came for my straws...: @Jolly said in First they came for my straws...: I'm just a dumb old country boy, ... As if you being a dumb old country boy has any relevance to the issue at hand. ... but I don't remember any lowering of staff illness rates through the years, no matter which system of cutlery was used. Don't go by memory. Cite actual statistics. Let the data do the talking. Self-deprecation is an art form, not subject to quantification. Fraught with meaning to those with more than passing knowledge of social interaction, it would of course be like muddy water to your non-existent social palate. I do many things by memory. Life is too short - and you are too insignificant - to waste time quantifying speech for normal social discourse.

In 1929, the market recovered much of the fall - only to fall again. I've sat on some cash because the market seemed high. I suspect Buffet is following my strategy and is waiting for me to make a move. You know a guy who owns a buffet? How cool is that!

@Mik said in Take this Walz: Nice. I'd not heard that song before. With Cohen you have to get the lyrics because there's always such poetry. Very much so.

@jon-nyc said in My Governor: "After years of Republican failure": Straight from the Vance playbook. List a half dozen GOP failures and blame Biden. Oh goodness! There’s more than half a dozen. Much more. Click on the second link and look at the successes that Illinois has had.

@LuFins-Dad said in The Flying Cajun: Why? Kid’s got an American Dad, born in LaFayette, all of his schooling has been in Louisiana… He’s an American. Why compete under another flag? It’s not like the foreign born athletes that compete in American collegiate or pro sports but compete in the Olympics under their native flag… It’s also not like the athletes that have a parent from another country, and aren’t good enough to make Team USA, so compete for their other eligible country… This kid’s the best in the world and has been through 2 Olympics. Do why compete for Sweden? According to Wiki the Swedes offered his dad a job as the national coach if he went over to them
