@Jolly I'm thinking about buying 1/4 of a cow and 1/4 pig from a farmer friend and a decent freezer from Walmart.

You may pay a little more, but you'll have better tasting meat, especially the pork. 1/4 not is not a bunch of pork, especially if you are making a bit of patty sausage.

Just make sure your freezer is big enough...

Absolutely, but I know it's not. At all. A shitload of employees, managers, and business owners either think this is a silly liberal conspiracy, or they're so ignorant that they actually think they can control normalcy.

No matter how they do this, many people are going to get sick and die from completely avoidable stupidity. I really hope we try to mitigate that.

That's why I thought it interesting the first bunch that are making plans are all Dems, all NE.

Because we're talking about decisions that will greatly inform the extent of the next months' body count I honestly don't give a fuck. I'm concerned either way.

Only Mike DeWine has knocked this out of the park.

WHO was too busy fellating China. CDC was protecting its turf. FDA was being the FDA. The administration didn’t take it seriously enough. Cuomo and DeBlasio were afraid to close schools. You could watch them struggle through the stages of grief over this.

    And so here we are.

In other words, people were busy being people.

Do we have false positive/false negative rates on the test? Maybe this is merely due to false test results.

NO clinical test is accurate 100% of the time. I've heard error rates of 10% on the current COVID tests. 5% is around minimum for many tests, even less for others.

If that test would have a 10% false positive rate, then it would be mostly useless, no? From what I understand, the number of tests with positive results is around or below 10%. At a 10% false positive rate, most of those "positive" cases would in fact be negative.

I don't know if that is the actual number, I'm working off of gossip, hearsay and the news media. But you would be much better off with false positives than false negatives.

In the mean time Duke did 15 lung transplants in March. Lots of programs have shut down, so they have less competition for organs.

I don’t doubt FEMA sucks at a lot of things, or this in particular.

But there is a difference between normal bidding process and no-bid contract awards in an emergency. Your experience was with the former.

If the White House were to come in and expedite things it seems to me it would be about streamlining the entire procurement process.

Not redirecting just one of many contracts to a new vendor.

My experience is with both, albeit at a state level. Considering what all's going on right now and how much money is being flung through the air, I'm more worried about throwing twenty-five million at the Kennedy center than $100M contract for something that is needed.

Well, shipping to Cali has to add at least 24 hours to the process. Another situation where economies of scale do not serve us well.

    Hair dye.

Did you get your perfect color, George?

Monday trivia...Although Lucille Ball was already known as a redhead (the carpet didn't match the drapes, Lucille was actually strawberry blonde), when she did this, she changed to a different shade of red:

She liked her dye job so well, she kept the color for the rest of her life.
