Alright, I admit this was a quick exercise, but basically what I did was I took all violent crime offenders by race and compared police deaths by race, and it came out to 0.19% of whites are killed by police, and 0.15% of blacks are killed by police. If you look at all crimes (not just violent), it's about the same % (so, essentially no difference in skin color).
I used FBI crime numbers for 2017-2019 as my source.
Again.....I took about 5 minutes to run these numbers, am I missing something obvious?
What I said before still stands: if we're talking real honest-to-God progress with race in the U.S., I think the "well-off white folk" have a responsibility to reach out to the black community and try to have an objective conversation. This kind of information is a good place to start. And the black community has a responsibility to listen objectively, respond, and then we go from there.
Like any good compromise even this suggestion is sure to piss off a ton of people, but I was talking about progress, not one group or the other having positive feels.
Progress is unattainable when the "victim" relishes their role.
