Sen. Cotton on the Cruz/Hawley effort: https://www.cotton.senate.gov/news/press-releases/cotton-statement-on-joint-session-of-congress- ... the Founders entrusted our elections chiefly to the states—not Congress. They entrusted the election of our president to the people, acting through the Electoral College—not Congress. And they entrusted the adjudication of election disputes to the courts—not Congress. Under the Constitution and federal law, Congress’s power is limited to counting electoral votes submitted by the states. . If Congress purported to overturn the results of the Electoral College, it would not only exceed that power, but also establish unwise precedents. First, Congress would take away the power to choose the president from the people, which would essentially end presidential elections and place that power in the hands of whichever party controls Congress. Second, Congress would imperil the Electoral College, which gives small states like Arkansas a voice in presidential elections. Democrats could achieve their longstanding goal of eliminating the Electoral College in effect by refusing to count electoral votes in the future for a Republican president-elect. Third, Congress would take another big step toward federalizing election law, another longstanding Democratic priority that Republicans have consistently opposed. ...

Maybe the sprayer stood very close to the garage door, very short spray distance, angled towards the outside when spraying the frame. Might happen.

@doctor-phibes said in RIP Gerry Marsden: The song 'Ferry Cross the Mersey' is played on the boat every single time they make the crossing. The film Ferry Cross the Mersey was paired at drive in theatres here on a double bill with *Hard Day's Night * when the latter was released in the early '60s. Remember it well.

@jolly said in Biden’s scaled down inauguration plan: May be more Trump supporters than Biden supporters at the Inauguration. That would be a hoot... You saw what happened a week or two ago when both he and Trump held events in Georgia.. Trump, who supposedly lost the election, had thousands of people show up at his event. Biden - the man who was considered a loser by both parties for 47 years, senile, who picked a woman as his vice president who isn't even popular in her own state.... that dynamo team who never campaigned and couldn't draw a big enough crowd to fill a school bus but who allegedly got more votes than anyone in history.......... No one showed up at his. No. One.

I don't know enough about the science stuff to substantiate everything on the list, but no matter... The better sleep, mental health, and motivation to make better eating choices have been very real, and are more than enough to keep me going.

Deutscher has been on my radar for a couple of years already. I wonder how she develops. She was impressive as a child prodigy, but now she needs to show that she can go beyond that. There is of course nothing wrong with great melodies, but, even if this is obviously extremely impressive for a child, the music sounds rather derivative. The Adés concerto is not my cup of tea.

I forgot that modern browsers tend to store cached pages in some kind of database, with some encoding of the data going on, hence you can't just grep through the files. Rather, one would have to read them via an utility such as this one.

One fav way we cook salmon is to sandwich two fillets with skin on; put a little salt, pepper, slived shallots, lemon slices, and white wine between them; tie with roasting string; and bake. Sandwiching keeps it very moist. MS likes her salmon cooked through, I like mine fleshy and a wee bit rare.
