@loki said in Inside baseball.: Is this because so many employees have Covid? If so it should start getting better soon. Don't have a clue. But if you take this at face value, and you couple it with the fact that seeds are scarce again this year, as are canning supplies, it makes for some interesting thought exercises.

Hmmm, banning people for having an opposing viewpoint? Where do we see that before?

I think I mentioned this before, but I was at a speech he made. One thing that I have always remembered as he talked about the moon mission. Something like: "We are 90% confident that we would make it to the moon. But only about 60% confident that we would make it back"

@xenon If only the Capitol invasion had been televised. Credible threats to democracy who wear furry horns are ratings gold.

@jolly said in Why is this not surprising?: @jodi said in Why is this not surprising?: @mik Do you think infidelity is more common in the political realm than in any other? (Not trying to argue, I just sort of assume that infidelity probably occurs at the same rate all over, we just hear about the public figures more) Infidelity is rampant in the political realm. Most politicians would screw a snake, if you held it for them. And the more power you have, the more you get for free. Pence didn't qualify his statement by referring to his position. It's something he does, independent of his work in politics. And the implied if/then here is more than a little silly. Pence's rule is by no means a healthy marriage requirement.

@lufins-dad said in Tougher than a $2 steak.: Saints and Steelers are caught in a similar situation with similar results. It really looks like both Superbowl Contenders were eliminated from the playoffs thanks to serious mistakes at the QB position, but both of those QB's also had moments of brilliance in their games as well, and there are those that question whether the teams would have been contenders at all without those QB's. Saints would have made the playoffs but they would not have won the division. The Saints are in salary cap hell, but the word on the street is that Winston will be starting next year.

@jon-nyc said in Pardonpalooza: @loki you’re hilarious. You literally said one or two, and I called you out on that. Okay my bad. It’s several or many but you coined the term pardonpalooza and I can’t get there mathematically. Billy, no Pardons for Trump himself or family. It’s getting tough navigating around the elephant in the room.

Some detail from a local PA news station in October The Democratic party’s progressive wing has pushed for a ban on fracking because of the environmental damage drilling caused in some areas, including Pennsylvania. But a president cannot ban fracking on private land — only Congress can do that. And the vast majority of fracking in Pennsylvania takes place on private and state land. The state leases about 11 percent of its land — 251,233 acres — to gas drillers. What Biden says he wants to do — as part of his larger plan to tackle climate change — is stop leasing any new oil and gas rights on federal land. But Pennsylvania has very little federal land. The only place where federal leases exist are in the Allegheny National Forest, where there are three oil and gas leases that span about 855 acres.

@jodi said in I’m done.: @bachophile what are the ranges, high, vs medium vs low, do you know? Trying to figure out where our recent levels are on this scale (after having the disease) I really don’t know how to quantify it because I think each serology kit has its own reference values My result was 32 S/CO whatever that means with a big boldface positive after it.

Reform sounds fine to me. If the wrong people are let loose and hide however I am concerned that people in their own community suffer most. That’s where most the crime occurs.

@loki THey're not ending pre-trial detention in all cases though. It would just be more severe, like denial of bail today. (I presume)

Yes, interesting. Oddly enough, currently the Vikings (well, one of them) rule the chess world once again, if not much else.

@axtremus said in 400,000: @jolly said in 400,000: Exposure. Hard to be exposed when you do not leave your basement. Shows Biden being careful and responsible with good strategic acumen. Not leaving your basement was the smart strategy in the midst of a pandemic. Yes, the results speak for themselves.
