On the story of bridges, there is an expressway bridge that needs to be replaced between Illinois and Iowa over the Mississippi River Rather than tear the old bridge down, there is a (possible) plan to make the old bridge a bison crossing with a national park at each end. Kind of a cool idea. Would be fun if is coming to happen. (https://bisonbridge.org)

Not just Google, but also Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, etc. Apple is probably worse than others because, while the likes of Google, Facebook, and Microsoft derive revenues from China, Apple is also highly reliant on China for the manufacturing of its hardware products. Despite China blocking access to Google from within China, businesses in China still buy advertisements from Google. Lots of entertainment content produced by businesses in China is available on Google's YouTube.

A step in the right direction, for sure. Looking forward to the day when a "student athlete" will get to enjoy the same freedom as a "professional athlete" does when it comes to profiting from his name and likeness.

Man died waaay too young. Most of his books are very good. Guy had to be able to write, to run a section of a major newspaper in his twenties (back when newspapers were newspapers)

@taiwan_girl said in Picking up the violin: I like music, but I think that the violin is one instrument that sounds terrible as a beginner. On something like the piano, you can play a simple tune as a beginner and it does not sound too bad. +1. The violin is one of the most powerful instruments in terms of what one can express, but it takes a long time before the efforts are rewarded.

I guess some people actually believe this horseshit. Maybe they will die of Covid or kill a loved one before they ever discover the truth. All they want is to drag you into the debate. Don’t look the idiots in the eyes, you will turn to stone.

The only reason anyone ever thought it didn't was because Mr. Trump said it did. That might be fading.

@89th We succumbed to peer pressure and went mask-less. We were a little taken back at first and I was super paranoid about distance but that also gave way to the need to demo the system, etc. My fear eventually subsided and I just didn't think about COVID-19 for most of the show. If we had not been vaccinated, we would not have even attended. The fact that we were exactly two weeks past the second shot, provided a lot of confidence.

It’s the old sacred Indian burial ground trick. Smart move when you want more of something during a dole out to attach yourself to something righteous that is impossible for the other side to attack. My other favorite is, “we are going to have our client in a wheel chair pass the jury on his way to the stand, so maybe you really should see our settlement demand in that light”
