@mark said in Apple goes back to usability vs looks: Everyone Is a Genius: Apple Will Offer Parts and Tools for DIY Repairs. https://www.ifixit.com/News/55370/apple-diy-repair-program-parts-tools-guides-software Saw that a while ago, and I approve. But...considering the tech "savvy-ness" of the average guy, what do you think the success rate of DIY repair of iPhones., Macs, etc will be? I'd guess pretty low. I'm no tech guy, and I've replaced memory, hard drives and batteries on laptops. Good luck with Joe-blow from Berwyn (Chicago peeps will get taht).

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/20/politics/eddie-bernice-johnson-congress-retirement Democratic Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas announced her retirement Saturday afternoon after serving nearly 30 years in Congress, according to a statement from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi said in a statement Saturday that Johnson is "a dedicated and highly effective leader on behalf of Dallas area families and the entire nation for her thirty years in the Congress and nearly 50 years in public service." Johnson was the first Black woman elected to state public office from Dallas, according to Pelosi, as well as the first African American and woman to be the chair of the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.

Seen in the RWEC: A man who attempted to kill a cop -- who was raiding the home of his girlfriend -- pled self-defense. And was acquitted. The media won't cover this, even though it's now highly relevant to the claim they're making that a black man could never successfully plead self-defense, never ever ever. Oh -- and he's a felon. And how much White Privilege does Mr. Coffee enjoy, I wonder? How much White Supremacy does he benefit from? So he was a felon illegally in possession of a gun. He got convicted of that -- there's no way to avoid that. But the jury acquitted him of attempted murder of a cop. I wonder if he cried White Tears on the stand.

@kluurs said in What pop songs ruin your brain?: Is there a particular earworm that once you hear it, you need to find a brick wall to bounce your head against to make it stop? Mentioned it here a couple weeks ago that Artie Shaw’s 1939 recording of Kurt Weil’s All the Things You Are tends to loop. It’s actually a great tune. More recently though I watched the Edgar Wright documentary The Sparks Brothers. It’s very well done and worth the watch. As a result though I have had an ear worm medley of sorts of Sparks tunes from their *Kimono My House * album from the 1970s.

I think Bari Weiss told that story in her column. ETA: Yeah, it's in the Post's story. Where does democracy die, again?
