After the last floods in Baton Rouge, families were scattered across multiple hotels in a 130 mile radius. Some families worked out pretty well. Others tore the rooms up so bad, it cost more to fix the room than what FEMA paid.

@Catseye3 said in Biden Didn't Know: @George-K said in Biden Didn't Know: But, just between you and me, don'tcha think that someone at DOJ pulled someone at the WH aside, and winked, saying, "You're not going to fucking believe this...." No, because there's no way for thee and me to believe (or disbelieve) it. It could have happened. It's how lots of things happen -- maybe even most things. But we the unwashed will never know. And certainly not some cockamamie "news" outlet. Jon said something smart further up, but I forgot already what it is. Whatever it was, I agree. When the stagecoach pulls into the western town with no driver and the dead passengers shot full of arrows, I doubt a single cowboy turned and looked at one another and shouted, "Fucking armadillos!".

@George-K So then is the United States Post Office “the organization that murders its employees” ever since the first incident of a clerk going postal?

Will it never end? Of course, it could be worse - you could let the Brits have a go: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Hood_(1991_British_film) They filmed this monstrosity where I got married!

@Axtremus said in Happy Chinese New Year: Not real … Chinese New Year is usually celebrated in late-January/February Replies to the tweet tells you it‘s just a drill, not a real thing. Well, crap. I was questioning the "New Year" thing, but hoped it was true on other grounds.

There are actually good environmental reasons to stop people removing peat for horticultural reasons, but the Scotch whisky industry really isn't one of them. https://whiskymag.com/story/the-problem-with-peat

Now that the vax is known to be less effective than originally thought, ownership transfers back to Mr. Trump.

The cop should have quickly figured out that this guy was likely under a lot of stress, had a heavily pregnant woman in the car, was outside the ER, and that these three things were probably connected. Put two and two together, you jumped-up knobhead.

I really don’t see how quiet quitting is much different from working to rule. Been around a long time and, for most part, is recognized as a wage earner’s right.

Off topic, but Racine has a wonderful civic marina. At one time we thought we might be moving there.

It must be true. It's been fact-checked! Seriously, good on them. A great way to use something that was going to be waste.

Irrelevant. Many Amish do in fact use tractors…They use steel wheels, though. It’s not the technology, it’s the comfort factor.
