Just wasted two hours of my life watching Blitz. I watched it largely for the subject matter and that Steve McQueen seems to be a hot new director. No real arc, no character development, minimal dialogue. Blech.

I was going to look at it. Thanks for the heads up.

By the way, I read, somewhere, that The Day of The Jackal is coming to broadcast TV at the end of this month.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_of_the_Jackal_(TV_series)

NBC is set to broadcast the pilot on US television on 30 December 2024.[22]

I'm looking forward to that. I love seeing novels made as series or miniseries. So much better to tell the story.

That was the first Forsyth book I read.

            The films based on Forsyth:

            Jackal was great.
Odessa file was ok, but not great.

Why did The Day of the Jackal end differently from the book?

Plowing through "The Old Man" season two.

I didn't realize that Joel Grey was in it - he's 92 years old.

@George-K though a mostly-satisfying conclusion to season 2 (several unanswered questions, I enjoyed it.

Sadly, it's not renewed for a third run.

                  Bah.

In anticipation of season 2, i binged (again) season 1. Much better on the 2nd watch. Having read the books, I'm REALLY looking forward to a binge of season two. Gonna hold off until all episodes are available.

It's neat when "sci-fi" doesn't involve spaceships, etc.

Side note: In one of the episodes (#4?), one of the police yell to a citizen by name: "Howey."

The Silo books were written by Hugh Howey.

Read the books - they're great.

A really good British crime drama covering solving cold cases. The stories are pretty harrowing, but the whole thing is well acted, with plenty of well known and high quality character actors taking part.

                      I was only joking

Finally finished Yellowstone. I thought it was a good, if implausible, ending. About the best they could do without Costner. I liked that

There are at least two spin-offs in the works.

                              6666 follows Jimmy
An unnamed series, in Wyoming, with Beth and Rip (remember she bought that ranch?)
And 1923 has another season to go - @jodi's husband was an extra in at least one scene

I'm hesitant to go down the Yellowstone universe rabbit hole. I think I might watch 1883 and 1923, but will probably stop after that. My brother in Dallas ran across a TV show being filmed, I think called "Madison", another spin off.

@Mik I liked Yellowstone, agree with your feeling. Just this morning I was thinking that the main thing I'll miss from the show are the cowboy/scenery moments with montage music. To me, at least, it was really peaceful and enjoyable to watch. The story itself was fun, with some specific episodes that were amazing, but the cowboy scenery is what will last with me.

It struck me as well. I have a very close friend who actually became a working cowboy in Montana after high school and a couple years of college. Spent a week with him up in summer cattle camp in the mountains. It was great.

How do you people find time to watch these-multi episode, multi-season shows? I can barely get through, "Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!" without skipping to just the good parts.

Quit working. You'll be amazed how much time you have. For a while, anyway. Then everything you do regularly will take three times as long.

Coffee and morning reading, puzzles, etc. is three hours. I used to go to the gym, get a workout in in 30 minutes. Now it's 90 to 120 minutes, but I do a LOT more exercises.

More than likely the most complex piece ever played on my piano.
