Tried to watch Wolfs last night. Don't bother. I'm sure Clooney and Pitt had a ball doing it, but it's pretty boring and predictable. Started back on Foundation. Hard to get used to Seldon being alive.
Slow Horses 4 is great as usual, but more of the same. Great characters.

Something disturbing...
I enjoy Steve Carrell's serious work. Here's an example on Hulu.
The Patient:
Link to video"The Patient is an American psychological thriller limited series created and written by Joel Fields and Joe Weisberg, who also serve as showrunners and are executive producers Chris Long, Caroline Moore, Victor Hsu, and Steve Carell. The series stars Carell alongside Domhnall Gleeson and Linda Emond in lead roles. It premiered on August 30, 2022, on FX on Hulu and concluded on October 25, 2022, after a ten-episode run.
The series follows a therapist (Carell) who is held captive by a patient (Gleeson), seeking unconventional therapy for his homicidal urges. The narrative delves deep into the psychological tension between the characters, focusing on themes of trauma, morality, and control."
Weisberg was one of the creators of "The Americans."
This is creepy AF, but Carell is great.
10 episodes (I think) about 30 min each. Good weekend binge...

This weekend's binge - on HULU.
Not sure if I "liked" it, but I've grown to respect Steve Carell as an actor.
Link to videoVery, VERY, disturbing.

Just watched E1 of 3 Body Problem. So far so good.
Monsieur Spade very good too.
Clive Owen is great. I've enjoyed his work ever since "The Knick."
Aside:
Spade is at the doctor's.
Doctor: You have a the best prostate I've felt all morning.
Spade: Next time, take off your ring.
Doctor: Ring? That was my watch.
"You have to stop smoking or you'r going to get emphysema (puts up chest x-ray)."
Two things wrong with the x-ray (at least it's not backward like in the opening of "Scrubs"
One is easy, the other is a bit more obscure - perhaps @bachophile will see it.
-
Well, other than it being a woman without emphysema with a small hiatal hernia, I don’t see any pathology.

Exactly.
It’s the chest x-ray of a healthy woman.
Not that of Sam Spade.
-
Surprised a general surgeon can read a chest xray, I bet?

Nah - you're the breast guy. I was expecting you to see that.
Hell, even I could see the lack of emphysema.

I’m about half way through the movie First Man. Wow… maybe because I’m wearing headphones and hear every audio detail but it’s a great movie from an immersive experience. The Gemini 8 launch scene… the Gemini 8 malfunction… I’m on the edge of my seat. Also so far the audio has been great, the subtle harp/music, even the breathing from Neil (Ryan Gosling) after he “sees” his daughter at the funeral/wake. Very subtle details but I’m impressed so far. Tried to see if we had talked about this movie before…

We are enjoying Silo. Good production values and so far, an engaging storyline.

Started Bad Monkey. Looks good.
Finished it yesterday. Fun.
But...
I didn't like the deus ex machina explanation of what happened to Eve. A lot of sub-plots that end up not going anywhere, and not really adding to the story, particularly the relationship between Yancy and Rosa.
Obvious set-up for a 2nd season, should it happen.
2 ½ stars.

When is a Batman show not a Batman show?
I'm really enjoying this. I had to go back and watch The Batman for the backstory. It's more Corleone than Cobblepot.

Exactly what I objected to about Monsieur Spade. Lots of subplots obliterated in the final episode by a brand new character. Blah. Worse than a Stephen King ending.

Indeed. It had such promise, and the setting was great. Then, when the kid plot starts, it gets weird.
I was disappointed.

Started watching "The Lincoln Lawyer" today. Caught 2 episodes of Season 3.
Typical of Michael Connelly, there are a bunch of characters, some loosely related to the main plot, and some coming from previous seasons.
I really enjoyed Season 2, by the way. The twist at the end....
But what gets me is the style of the show. I find the soundtrack annoying, the extreme closeups a distraction, and the overall style has a "Suits" quality to it. Those are the downsides.
It's a shame that Netflix has the rights to Lincoln, and Amazon has Bosch. Because of copyrights and stuff, neither can cross-reference the other character (though I think there was a sub-plot in the earlier seasons of Bosch where he met his half-brother, Mickey Haller).
Still, fun.
