We are looking for series that are a bit uplifting, not dark, dar, dark and tense. Any suggestions?

You might enjoy Kaos (referenced above).

OK, on my list. Heard it's pretty funny.

Very enjoyable. Goldblum carries the show, but the rest of the cast is great as well.

The scene with Prometheus (Stephen Dillane) getting his liver eaten by the eagle is actually funny.

The Greek Gods' family tree explained - as in Kaos.

I liked Kaos a lot. As you said, Jeff Goldblum makes the show work: old school, real actor. Janet McTeer, is elegantly regal, and the guy who plays Posiden is Mediterraneanly oily. The younger people are randomly interchangable but a good plot line that keeps it fast and funny.

Yeah, I really enjoyed it, and it's worth a second watch.

What I liked is that it completes the story, and yet is open-ended enough for another season.

                Goldblum....of course.

Speaking of which, years ago, this was taped to the inside of the door to a bathroom stall at work.

                (sorry for the derail)

This is totally random, but I really enjoyed watching Turn (AMC, from 2014-217, I think). Terrific acting by all, great sets, great drama... it's about the Washington spy ring during the revolutionary war.

Yes. Interesting series, and a lot of interesting actors - Burn Gorman comes to mind.

The guy who played Simcoe did an interview in which he talks about how he purposefully raised the timbre of his voice to make it more annoying. Simcoe was not the monster portrayed:

John Graves Simcoe (25 February 1752 – 26 October 1806) was a British Army general and the first lieutenant governor of Upper Canada from 1791 until 1796 in southern Ontario and the watersheds of Georgian Bay and Lake Superior. He founded York, which is now known as Toronto, and was instrumental in introducing institutions such as courts of law, trial by jury, English common law, freehold land tenure, and also in the abolition of slavery in Upper Canada.

His long-term goal was the development of Upper Canada (Ontario) as a model community built on aristocratic and conservative principles, designed to demonstrate the superiority of those principles to the republicanism of the United States. His energetic efforts were only partially successful in establishing a local gentry, a thriving Church of England, and an anti-American coalition with select indigenous nations. He is seen by many Canadians as a founding figure in Canadian history, especially by those in Southern Ontario.[1] He is commemorated in Toronto with Simcoe Day.

I've read a couple of books about the Culper Spy ring, and though much of the series is based on fact, they do take some liberties.

                    Nevertheless a fun watch.

Rose's book is better than Kilmeade's (or whoever wrote it for him).

Funny. I didn't know the actor's name but when I searched Burn Gorman I was hoping it was that guy (who played Hewlett). His character arch is probably the thing I remember most from the series.

Somehow, Slow Horses just didn't get me the first time around, so I thought I'd give it another shot. In the last week I binged through the 1st two seasons.

Season 1 was a mess with the poorly-defined false flag operation. Tavener comes off as a thoroughly unlikeable apparatchik. Love Lamb's insults, however. The story is just weird, and hard to follow.

Season 2 was, IMO, better. Several bad guys, with a surprise baddie at the end. Much stronger.

I'll probably do season 3 tomorrow and Monday.

                                        I really enjoyed Kaos too.

I’m also currently watching a Korean series called The Good Bad Mother on Netflix . Mrs Phibes is addicted to these things and I’m watching it with her, and actually really enjoyed the silliness. The humour is rather like something the Brits would do- who knew?

I am the K Drama queen. If Mrs. Phibes needs recommendations, let me know. 555

She asked me to ask you what your top 4 recommendations would be....😬

                                        I was only joking

Okay. 😊 The four I list below are all a bit different in their style, but all good.

Crash Landing On You - romcom
Memories of Alhambra - "sci-fi" -ish
Reply 1988 - Slice of Life story of ordinary people
Itaewon Class - Underdog story set in Seoul

Crash Landing on You (probably the most famous K Drama)
