A nearly normal family. Netflix. It’s in Swedish. Crime/family drama.
Two episodes in. Curious enough to keep watching.

@LuFins-Dad Try Danny Go, catchy songs. Not as fun to watch maybe as Ms Linky though.

This movie hits differently, now that I've been the target of death threats due to my own courageous reporting. Cate Blanchett is excellent. I hope she plays me when they make a movie of my life. Though it's more likely that I'll be portrayed by a black woman.

            Education is extremely important.

I liked that one, too. What a complicated person he was.

Beautiful music, though. Nobody else like him.

Good documentary of sorts. Brought back lots of memories as I was a young lad when he earned some of his final stats... 5K strikeouts, 6th and 7th no hitter, etc. Worth a view if you're a baseball fan.

His stats are bananas btw. Threw 108 MPH (fastest ever), but in terms of no-hitters, etc:

                  No hitters: 7
                  1-hitters: 12
                  2-hitters: 18
                  3-hitters: 31

That'll never happen again. All teams use pitch counts now... back in the 70s and 80s you could let your starting pitcher go the whole game if he felt good.

SIDE NOTE... From this, I've gone back and started watching The Natural again. Yes I've seen it before a few times, but mostly as a kid. And I've watched the famous scenes a few times. Great music... but as an adult now, I chuckle at some of the scenes (like Brimley as the coach) and the grumbling. Also, the opening 15 minutes... both beautiful as well as really scripted to get the story to a jump start. Could border on corny/forced but ultimately is beautiful What a great movie for baseball fans, too.

First of all, I love Jodi Foster. She has aged so well...and she has a "relaxed" approach to acting that makes her work so damn good.

I also loved "Contact" but that's just me.

                    True Detective.

                    Such a disappointment.

tl;dr - several scientists in an arctic circle lab disappear. Their bodies are found, naked and frozen on the ice during the "Long night" in December.

Too much mysticism. If you thought True Detective season 1 was weird, well, lemme hold your beer.

The cinematography and acting are first rate. But...fer chrissakes, gimme an old-fashioned mystery without all the weirdo supernatural stuff.

This season is only 6 episodes long. Without all the irrelevant stuff, told as a straight-forward mystery, it could have been 4, if not 3.

Ok I finished a (re)watch of The Natural. You know, I'm struck by how simple and predictable the dialogue is. Almost laughable if you were just reading the script on paper. But man, it is wrapped up in such a beautifully-made film, the music, the editing, the announcer in the background, the transition between scenes... visual poetry.

Saw Roadhouse on Prime last night. Pretty fun. I enjoyed McGreggor's hammy part. Looks like he was on some juice to prepare for the part, like Gyllenhaal. The movie reminds me of the time I was an ex UFC fighter who killed a man in the ring, and then became an itinerant bouncer for hire at the world's seediest bars. Two fists up from a guy who's been there, done that.

BTW, I remember reading how Chris Pratt gets in shape for the Galaxy movies...No red meat, four hours workout per day and he stays hungry for three months.

And yeah, I suspect he's juicing, too.
