Sorry, I can't even abide New Orleans when it's hot.

    Florida? Fugghedabouddit!

But, those are great pictures, and thanks for sharing those.

Down on the coast it's generally not too bad. It's gone too touristy for me, but I used to really like St. Augustine about 35 years ago. Get into the older neighborhoods and there were white cottages and a zillion live oaks...The tree limbs covered the streets so much, there would be complete shadow on the street at noon.

No prob, but they were just, y'know, quick touristy ones. The film ones should be better.

                      (Thread post count: 1)

I went down to visit my folks in Florida for about a week. First, we spent a day with some friends of ours in Richmond that we haven't seen all year. Then Florida, then about two days in Myrtle Beach. Trying to get out while the getting's good.

My parents hadn't seen their grandkid for over a year, so this is the first time outside of FaceTime they've seen her since she was very little. That stretch of time sucked for everyone, so it was good to hang out in person.

My folks are hardcore neat freaks. The hardest of core. So I felt bad bringing ourselves and a toddler into their home for awhile. They say they didn't mind at all, and I know they were over the moon to hang out with our daughter, but I'm sure they were damn glad to have their house back, too.

They and my daughter ran each other ragged while we were there. Good for everyone. I had to work throughout the day, but that was more or less okay.

My dad had a pretty serious neck surgery done a month back. He'll be in a hard brace for most of the year and he's in constant pain. But he's not on any good pain meds because of the bad withdrawal he went through the last time. That withdrawal has made him kinda weird. He gets angry sometimes. He lost his shit on a telemarketer while we were down there. My dad is not an angry guy. He felt terrible about it but he's having a hard time controlling himself sometimes. (It's very likely not dementia, he's fine otherwise.) I worry about him but they both refuse to talk about it. I gotta make up a ton of shit just to contrive reasons to do things for him down there. Otherwise, he'd try himself and screw up his recovery.

There might not seem to be a whole lot of people on the beach, but that's because these were taken either in the morning or afternoon, out of peak times. When we were there, there were scads of tourists. Absolutely jam-packed of people, running everywhere, with strong winds. I'll admit it, the crowds freaked me out in a weird sort of way. I could deal, but I sure didn't like it. I kept telling myself that now would actually be an ideal time to catch COVID, before the Delta variant and who knows what others really get a foothold.

Anyway, no family photos to shareβ€”I took those on some Fuji Velvia, so I need to drop them off at the lab before I know what I have. But these I took just screwing around with a digital camera.

What I did to get the colors was to use a strong yellow 15 filter, then corrected the colors in Lightroom. This gets them back to almost normal, but creates teal casts in the blues, and a peach cast in the yellows. I thought that'd be fitting, considering the area.

The problem with maintaining a strong spite game is that it's not scaleable. I have in-laws now. Jolly would have to wait in line, and his number wouldn't be called for quite awhile.

No, and that would probably be a hard sell. My dad's never once tried it, and he's an old guy who's a bit averse to new things, especially when they sound kinda scary/freaky.

I might mention it to my mom, who might be able to talk him into trying it if he became desperate enough.

I figured you were up that but I found perspective in all the touristy shots

How so? I ask because I can't see it.

The eye goes down a path and vanishes…. Objects in the distance have relationship with close objects.

Yeah, fair enough. I've been pretty half-ass with photos lately, but I'm hoping to get back out and try to make some good ones.

                                  Please love yourself.

Ok I’m scared. I’ve said many times never to mess with Aqua’s potential for spite.

The problem with maintaining a strong spite game is that it's not scaleable. I have in-laws now. Jolly would have to wait in line, and his number wouldn't be called for quite awhile.
