Finished "Line of Duty" the other day, and I saw many of the characters ending a sentence with "ta."

I get "innit", but this has me confused. What's the context of using this?

I think its kind of a short goodbye.

I've never seen the show, but 'Ta' is normally short for 'thankyou' -

        I was only joking

I guess it could be short for 'ta-ra', which means goodbye. Ta-ta is also good-bye.

I'll need to start watching it - I've been at a bit of a loose end since finishing The Expanse for the second time. I like a good British crime show.

It's very good. There's an arc that spans all 5 seasons you can watch on HULU. But, every season is pretty stand-alone with a "hey wait until we tell you next year!" ending. Exceptionally "procedural."

If you have a hard time with the accent, I recommend turning on the subtitles.

I've just watched Series 1, Episode 1, and I think I may be hooked.

I managed to struggle through without subtitles, although that Irish bloke has a bit of a brogue.

“Ta da” is used by exhibitionists.

                        Maybe in California.

There are no exhibitionists in England.
