According to USA Today anyway. It's well worth your time if you are here. The only ones I have seen that come close are San Diego and DC.
Karla and LuFin tried to go today, but apparently they needed to make reservations weeks ago.
At $35 a person, it better be a hell of a zoo.

@lufins-dad yeah...Brookfield is the same. You need to make a reservation. Since we're members, it's at no cost (other than parking - if you want to pay for the close-to-the-entrance lot at $5).
But, reservations are a must for now.

I bet your membership cost more than 10 trips to the zoo...

$143 for the year.
The "Family Plus" membership includes:
- Two adult admissions (me and Mrs. George, eg)
- Free admission for my children (under age 18) or grandchildren.
- One guest admission per visit
- Six guest admission passes (which I can give to anyone)
- Eight "attractio" tickets - children's zoo, tourist tram, dolphin show.
If Mrs. George, D4 and G2 go, that's about 3 visits per year.
Worth it, even if the zoo is not the best (any more).

@loki Mrs. George has been watching some of the "zoo shows" on cable. Her comment is that the Bronx Zoo is very good as well.
However, she's never been to New York, so I question her judgment. Please don't tell her I said that.
Also, note that the article quoted by @Mik says that "experts" picked the best zoos in the country, and then they were ranked by a survey.

Cool! I’ve found most zoos are unique and worth a visit. Heck, I’ve also found some of the best things are searching for local zoos while traveling. You can often find a place that has tigers, lions, bears, oh my yes you can. Often for cheap and includes feeding.
