What went on at the Capitol is bad, but it wouldn't make a scab on a good cow's ass when compared to Seattle, Portland or Minnesota.
We are used to the protesting and riots within cities and states, nothing new there.
So you think the "normalization" of the Capitol riot is the real next-level problem here, while you accept the "normalization" of cities being taken over by the left's civilian armies, simply because one "normal" is newer than the other.
And that's accepting your claim that anybody is accepting as "normal" the Capitol invasion, which is not true of any mainstream opinion I'm aware of.
On the other hand, the broken eggs of cities being burned and looted and taken over by leftists is legit accepted as normal, in the face of the far greater evil of a white cop somewhere in the country doing something terrible to a black person.
An attack on the most important symbol of democracy is two next levels up, and I could hear every GOP of days of yore say that.
if it was a real, planned, military style attack, sure. This was an attack of opportunity, enabled by some unlocked and unguarded doors of this "most important symbol of democracy", by a handful of imbeciles who are paying the heaviest price we as a society can exact on them.
I am right there with you on the cities, I don’t think it’s normal at all and I think they should lock up anarchists but it is an ongoing feature of Americana.

Horace isn’t the unlocked doors and mayor ask for no national guard all good but lesser points to the intent of the insurrectists? We have had decades of protests in DC and no one rushed the Capitol so the Capitol police didn’t expect it.

No but a mob mentality put things at high risk. What if a Senator, let’s say AOC was cornered, what might have happened? What about the fear they put into the Capitol Police?
They wanted to stop the vote, in that sense it was an attempted coup of the rule of law.

No, they wanted the vote to stop. There is a difference. And what do I think would have happened if they would have cornered AOC? Not nearly as much as what happened when Steve Scalise was cornered by a Bernie Bro a few years ago.
Here's the thing... Potential violence doesn't compare to actual violence. Congressmen that got their panties in a knot does not compare with the men and women that have had their businesses and lives destroyed in Portland. The young ladies that have been assaulted and raped at these autonomous zones would likely not agree with your assessment that it wasn't as bad as these asshats on January 6th.

There is no way of preventing Portland or CHAZ type riots, since the culture accepts them as basically just and the backlash against attempting to combat them would be severe and widespread. That's why there was no response. Meanwhile we are more than happy to combat "Capitol insurrections" now that we're on alert about them. Yet the "Capitol insurrection" is the real threat? An insurrection that could have been easily prevented with basic security measures?

The intent of the insurrectionists - and to me, that term is even a bit of a stretch - was not clear, even to them, as they marched towards the Capitol. What they were incensed about, was the belief that America had not had a fair election. That the Constitution had not been followed. One man, one vote.
I'll take that any day over anarchy or over some socialistic version of the Autonomous Zone.
So no, I don't think a passle of idiots at the Capitol comes close to equating a true armed insurrection and riots in other American cities.

Like I said I would support the commission if not for the dems blowing it too with the hasty political impeachment #2 event.
Nevertheless this Commission is dead on arrival. I think the lessons have been learned that will be learned, lock up the people who crossed the rubicon and crack down on rioters wherever they are.
