Found the plane Pence arrived in behind the FedEx building near the airport. It was blocked from view by numerous FedEx trailers.
Hubby thought we could go see it, but there was Secret Service blocking the parking lot near the FedEx building. Hubby needed to turn around, got stopped by Secret Service. He explained he wanted to turn around, and the SS thought he meant RIGHT THERE, not in the parking lot. Hubby proceeded toward the lot and we heard a loud "SIR!". Yes, hubby got yelled at by the Secret Service today. I cannot believe hubby thought he could go forward to the parking lot, but he thought the officer would surely understand that he would only turn around. WRONG!
Major LOLs at hubby for getting yelled at by SS.
BTW, we didn't even realize Pence would be in the area. I needed to pick up something from a store today, and hubby decided to come along. On the way, we saw law enforcement of all kinds at almost every major intersection along the highway. Hubby recalled that Pence was coming, and the rest is history.
Yes, my hubby got yelled at by the SECRET SERVICE today. Holy cow.

All that security, but no mask

Pence and his mask issue are not in this thread. That is not what I posted about.
So inconsiderate!
We could all be focusing on Mr. Brenda getting yelled at by the Secret Service had Pence just wore a mask like he's supposed to. -
Brenda that’s pretty cool! Getting yelled at by the Secret Service is definitely something for the list of accolades!
I’m actually able to see from my condo the hangar on Andrew’s AFB where they keep Air Force One and Two. Of course I have to use binoculars and even then it’s just a little building on the horizon... I also see those massive C17s or whatever they are fly over pretty often. Cool stuff!
-
That’s cool. I’ve never seen them. I’ve seen marine 1 and 2 in Manhattan. And I’ve seen the motorcade plenty of times.
Though not since I moved up here.

I remember reading a story about the first President Bush, and he was asked what he missed most about being Presidient.
He said,
"it is not the fancy house, if you are rich enough, you can get that.
It is not Air Force 1. A lot of people have private planes.
The thing that I miss the most is that I never, never had to wait in traffic! Wherever I went, I was always assured that the roads would be cleared!"I thought that was a neat, funny story.

@Mik
Well, since we're from Podunksville, Minnesoooooooota here, people tend to like turning around where they have about an acre or five to do so. Double that if you have an exclusive and fine vehicle like our 1994 Chevy Tahoe.Hubby assumed anyone would know you need a ballpark or more to turn around such a vehicle, so he headed toward the FedEx parking lot beyond the in-drive where Mr, SS was standing with some other fellas of the LE variety.
Mr. SS is from the BIG CITY, so he thinks hubby should be able to turn that deluxe '94 Tahoe around on a dime, and he was NOT pleased when hubby drove right past him towrd the parking lot.
I guess you could call it .... a failure to communicate.

The best part for hubby was getting on his work call five minutes late when we got home, and having to explain why. Oh my, I don't know when that work call ever became work. I'm sure at some point it did, but not for quite a while.

I've never seen the transport plane before. LIving in Podunksville, we could actually get close enough to take a picture. Sitting next to our tiny international airport, it looked enormous.

I was eye to eye with an agent in 2008. Coldest blue eyes I ever saw, most serious person I ever saw. He never ever quit scanning the crowd. had no doubt he would put a hole in my forehead Without hesitation if I got out of line.
Yes. Indeed, yes.
There's LE, and then there's SS. Quite a difference in demeanor. And this guy had a loud voice to match. Hubby's reaction was amusing. Been teasing him about not getting me sent to the pokey with him.

I've heard that story from President Bush before, too. One of my faves for how honest and true it is.
