I tried to talk Lucas into pursuing Elevator and Escalator Installation and Repair. At 85K Median, it is clearly a step above most careers, and the top 10% make over $120K. That is a very high ceiling!

I'm still waiting for all that extra leisure time we were promised in the 1970's.

I agree with @89th that preschool provides lots of benefits for kids. The problem is that you need to continue with the quality education throughout school. Otherwise anything that has benefit from preschool will be lost by grade 3 or four.
I also think that we (in general) have to think of the globe. The time of being a low skilled worker in the US and making money you can live with and raise a family, is no longer here.
China is an example of a country that is currently starting to struggle with it. As standards increase, you need to increase the knowledge and technology of the workers.
Maybe that is trade school, maybe junior college, but if you stop at high school, it mainly is not enough in the US in today’s world.
I have seen it happening in 3rd world countries that are moving upward.

Education is overrated. Training is not. Best example of that, is the IT world. Best example of over -educated people is in...Education.

I am not sure that overrated is correct. I believe that the main point of school is teaching you how to think.
Having been around people and worked with people with very little education, there is a bit of "how to think" that is missing.
Some of these people are quite smart, but I believe that there is a limit to what they can do due to the lack of education - I think that because they only went to school for a short time, they are "lack" how to think and approach problems.
Of course there are always exceptions, and there are certain jobs that they can do, and can do them very well. But there limit is much lower than someone who has finished school.
And really, isn't training another word for education?
