Exactly. Even at 24 fps, it's not horrible. I wonder if the software that "interpolated" the positions isn't the greatest.

As @Loki said, I was expecting more. Nevertheless, an interesting exercise.

Something I noticed with my kids growing up was that when they were young, they were pretty much uninterested in, and oblivious of, the quality of special effects. They'd happily watch an old movie with crappy graphics, and even when I joked about them they'd tell me off for being negative.

Once they hit about 15-16, that all changed, and they'd laugh at the old movies for looking so cheesy.

A bit sad, really, but interesting in how they see entertainment before they've being 'educated' in how to think.

            I was only joking

What's really crazy are 1) movies with effects that still hold up (T2) and 2) movies that are obviously dated but hold up anyway. I don't mean old westerns that still have value after you get past the antiquated cinematography, I mean movies like The Bicycle Thief and Vertigo that are still engrossing anyway.

              Please love yourself.

Exactly. Vertigo's "special effects" are pretty cheesy. But, the story holds up. If you're relying on SFX to carry the movie, you need a better writer.

Right? 😄 He's the guy I always have in mind whenever talk gets around to propping up a mediocre story with special effects.

I came to the opposite conclusion — the original motion designs were done so poorly that even higher frame rate cannot make them better. I think with the technology we have today, even if you keep the same frame rate as the original, you can still get more natural looking motions than you could than the original. A “remake” or “reshoot” with the original frame rate will materially improve over algorithmic interpolations with 8x the original frame rate.

You willingly watch romcoms written for 12-year-old girls so I fail to see how that matters.

Something I noticed with my kids growing up was that when they were young, they were pretty much uninterested in, and oblivious of, the quality of special effects. A bit sad, really, but interesting in how they see entertainment before they've being 'educated' in how to think.
