Read this one this morning and thought it was an interesting topic:
Recently on other forums, this seems to be becoming a big problem. In many cases it’s probably been a sore spot for some time, but now it seems people are ready to divorce over differing political views. The majority of the time it’s conservative men ready to dump their liberal wives. In some cases the wife may even be somewhat conservative or at least neutral...just not supportive enough. When the wife is the conservative, she may not be happy but is usually more willing to tolerate the differences.

It seems to me that more and more, people define themselves by their politics. Maybe too much time spent on the internet and watching news programs and not enough other interests.
It's funny, when we married in 1997 I was to the left of Mrs. Phibes. Now she's to the left of me.

I think you're spot on. For me lately, I've found it easier to forget the political labels as they apply to me. Sure, I have views on topics, and generally they align more with the conservative side, but not all. It makes it a little easier to evaluate politicians, policies, actions, etc...without a scripted bias ahead of time. I'd also say quite generally, I've shifted my focus much more to what's important to me... family, faith, enjoying life.

I would hope so, since your political beliefs are curated, sent to you and exposed to you based on some AI and those messages are radicalized to get you to click and look at ads.
To think people think very little anymore, just constant indoctrination. Religions and the Khmer Rouge re-education camps move over.

Political sides are an over-simplification, but at least it allows one to think about differences in people. One basic thing is that some people are more prone to emotional thinking, and others more prone to logical thinking. From emotional thinking comes righteousness, that perspective from which destruction of the other tribe makes perfect, guilt-free, sense.

Those prone to emotional thinking are also prone to believe based on the anecdotes they are fed. Those prone to logical thinking might first consider that this is an anecdote, and why am I aware of it? The emotional thinkers never get past their initial response to the anecdote. Then they gang up, take control of the cultural messaging, and ostracize the thinkers.
