I see a bunch of people who see no threat to themselves and are resentful of any inconvenience they might have to put up with just to save a few million lives that aren’t their own.

Their proposed remedy is impervious to new information, only the justification changes. First it was don’t do anything because the flu is worse, then imperceptibly it became don’t do anything because everyone is going to get it anyway, then it became don’t do anything because the Israeli space guy said no matter what you do the outcome is the same, then it became don’t do anything because everyone is already infected.

No strangers to righteousness themselves, they’ve now even started to feign a concern about the plight of low wage workers, imploring us to (wait for it) do nothing so that the workers will fare better.

    Only non-witches get due process.

You might have that framed right for some people but for others it is about a disaster of living people’s lives that they see rightly or wrongly coming. How people think Trump is a disaster but believe him when they say the economy will recover is beyond me.

Personally I have no issue or difficulty living under a lockdown. I imagine it is very different for others. Just as others have very different personal risk factors regarding the virus.

That's my one major disagreement also. I can understand the worry about being at home and becoming jobless. I was all for the quarantine for starters just to get the numbers down to something manageable. So yes, we need to figure out how to start getting some people back to work. But now masks are too much to ask. Which, no, fuck that, that's ridiculously selfish.

Working from home has been a dream for me since I started working. So in a way the quarantine has been a dream come true, personally. I even managed not to take a significant hit financially over any of this. So, it's difficult to pin my opinions on self-interest. Come to think of it, I'm even in a high risk cohort for the virus, considering my BMI.

              Education is extremely important.

Sadly, outside this forum this has become a Quasimodo-like misshapen argument about 'MY CONSTITOOOSHUNAL RITES!' . As the fear has subsided the stupid has risen again, like some goofy phoenix.

It is impossible to argue that we should not be looking at getting folks back to work and the economy going as much as is safely possible. But like Jon and Aqua, I will be continuing isolation and social distancing for the foreseeable future. Contactless services will need to continue as long as there is no effective vaccine or reliable treatment. Those businesses that do not will get no dollars from my household. If I have to pay a premium price, so be it.

But to throw the barn doors wide open and say have at it will just negate the work that has been done to flatten this thing.

Just so y'all know, if I catch this and die my last wish is to nuke the hell out of China.

“I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.” ~Winston S. Churchill

Well there is that but I’ve lived through enough down cycles that I don’t worry about it, really. I mean this is the fifth?

But I was fine at 10,000 so why wouldn’t I be now?

No, it's because the cause of death for everything else isn't, "someone didn't want to wear a mask/wash their hands/wait to go to the ballgame/etc"

They're okay but when you're talking TMNT, I think we can all agree they'd be a lot cooler were they lizards instead. Turtles, by and large, can only be so cool.

                                  Please love yourself.
