Of course, you are fully entitled to your opinion regarding what is objectively true, however I think he's dreadful.
Name an alternative. Name a smarter talking head. The way you put it, it’s as if there are many. Let’s hear who you think is smarter. And by the way I can think of many smart people who I think are dreadful.
I don't listen to any of them, so I honestly don't know. My objection is that you state an opinion using inherently subjective terms as though it's a fact.
'Smarter' - ok, you can probably test that, although that's debatable. 'More interesting' - that's not an objective measure. I don't find him interesting, which is why I don't watch him.
'Conservatives tend to think that Tucker Carlson is smarter and more interesting than a bunch of people they don't agree with' is closer to the mark.
I never said anything about interesting. Liberals love to call people stupid, that is their thing. So it just needs to be corrected early and often.

You replied to Horace's comment that Tucker was smarter and more interesting than any other commentators by saying it was objectively true.
And 'smarter' is a matter of opinion. I never said he was stupid.

Ok. You are right. My statement included more interesting and that is very debatable. I only really watched him when cross fire was a show and I have seen him speak live (he was one of many at a non political conference.

Carlson’s monologues get posted here sometimes when they are particularly good. By all means I hope those who consider him an unintelligent and uninteresting twat listen and comment next time.
Once again, I didn't say he was unintelligent.
I don't particularly like monologues, and I don't like Tucker Carlson.
You guys whine and whine about how awful the mainstream media is, but you really only mean the stuff you don't agree with. I dislike all of it.

"Both sides are equal and opposite garbage" would be an interesting perspective if I couldn't name five other posters on this board alone who think that way. It's not a point, it's a punt. And definitely not a thoughtful one.
Anyway, if Carlson is posted about here again, I'll try to remember to ping you so you have an opportunity to explain why he's talking bollocks. It's too bad you haven't taken any such opportunity the previous 20 times he's been posted about here.

You know those people who are really, really into Bob Marley, or Van Morrisson, or some other pop singer, and however many times you tell them you don't like them, they keep playing you their stuff to listen to?
I don't. Fucking. Like. Talking Heads. On TV.
I don't mind the band Talking Heads, after a few drinks at least. You can play their stuff. Not the other guys.

Maybe I'll give you a tl;dr version next time he's posted about, and you can enlighten us why the synopsis contains bollocks. I don't want you to go out of your way to explain your dismissal of the political tribe you hate most, I just thought maybe it would be a good exercise for you. You'll probably note that most of the right leaning posters here "whining about CNN" are able to specify what it is about their messaging they don't agree with.

My personal opinion is that anyone who uses the acronym MSM for mainstream media is so far buried in his/her/them perspective that it’s almost impossible to have a clear conversation.
Me personally. I love the MSM. But that’s because I’m very MS.

I'm going to post Charlie Parker videos from YouTube every time you do that. Because Charlie Parker actually was a genius. I am totally uninterested in whether you want to listen to him or not, but I'm going to post them, because he's fucking awesome.
He also managed to wear a bow-tie without looking like a complete cunt.

All lifetime left-leaning folks are hesitant to admit to an overall political bent to our cultural messaging. I've generalized it to 'pop culture' rather than 'MSM', because 'pop culture' gets more to the heart of the issue.

Fine by me, I'd love to learn more about jazz. I started watching a Miles Davis documentary a while ago, but it didn't grab me.

Personally, I'd rather spend an hour walking my dog.
There has never been one erg of TV that beats spending time with a dog.

My dog also looks very cute with a bow-tie.

(I will say at the beginning that I do not know who Tucker Carlson is, but at least very little).
But, I believe that there is a confusion about smartness and entertaining when talking about TV people.
Tucker (or Rachel or anybody like that) may be entertaining and know how to get their side excited, but that does not necessarily mean that they are smart. They may be a good speaker, etc but that is not the same thing as smart.
I am sure that many people here know (or have been in contact with ) someone at work, in government etc.
Maybe they are pretty popular or powerful. From the outside, people may say, "wow, that guy is smart!" Those who know him, say, "What an idiot! I can't believe he got the position he is in"

That's all well and good, but some of us in this thread have expressed specific opinions about specific people, about whom we know something. It is actually possible to have a political opinion that sides one way or another without having succumbed to confirmation bias, or some other logical fallacy du jour. That's why it helps to engage people on specifics.

What we don't actually know is how much of his stuff he writes himself.
Presumably he has writers. In fact, we know he does, as one of his writers resigned after being caught writing unpleasant things elsewhere.

Yes, he has writers. He's also written books himself, and I've heard him in a long form interview format. I consider him an interesting and thoughtful guy who makes a lot of points that resonate with me.
