We did 144k today. 160k the other day.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

      Biden is smart.

He didn't say what kind of vaccine, just vaccines. Maybe it's a vaccine for whooping cough. Doesn't matter, GET IT DONE. <puts on aviator sunglasses>

In MA, they're currently doing 30,000 per day. Unless something changes, the May 1 date is an old man's fantasy.

@doctor-phibes Well May 1 is a target for opening availability to all adults. I think we’ll probably have spare current appointment capacity in most places by Labor Day.

The supply will be there. The distribution plan everyone knows is the issue. We will have to see what’s coming. There are multiple plans, pick one and go.

A great milestone will be when a state can move to walk-in or same day appointments (like flu)

It's interesting that July 4th was mentioned. I remember last year and hoping (in the Spring) that by July 4th we'd have the curve flattened and things would be almost back to normal... a real independence day celebration. Obviously that didn't happen, but this year I'd expect July 4th to really, really, really feel as if society is 95% back to normal and a reason to celebrate.

210,000,000 adults. Roughly 20% will choose not to be vaccinated, leaving us at 168,000,000. We’ve had what, 35,000,000 fully vaccinated vaccinated? That puts us at 133,000,000 remaining, of which another 10,000,000 or so have had their first shots of Moderna and Pfizer. We’ve been averaging 2.3 million per day with just a smattering of J&J, and Moderna and Pfizer still ramping up. J&J is expected to have at least 50,000,000 delivered before the end of April, and I’ve heard that Novavax has at least 50,000,000 available immediately they were supposed to have 100,000,000 ready for early January delivery.

May 1st is easily doable even without AZ.

Opening availability to everyone doesn't require any cleverness. Being able to do it with a clear conscience is something else.

                    I was only joking

I still think the J&J (and maybe Novavax) should be available through PCP.

                            1. There’s no need for special storage for either.

                            2. There are a lot of seniors still unvaccinated because they don’t have internet or understand it well. Telling them to call their doctor? That they will understand...My dad got his because he walked into the pharmacy next door to pick up his daily paper and they said “Dave, did you get your vaccination yet? No? Come back at 3:00 and bring Adrienne.”

                            3. These mega centers can only process a certain number of people a day. Even Javits is only capable of 12,000 if everything is perfect. If you had 1000 PCPs pick up and administer 40 vaccines per day, you have almost quadrupled the output.
