@George-K Good luck tomorrow! I know many folks who had Pfizer and most had no major effects after the 2nd dose. Maybe slightly tired the next day? As compared to the Moderna 2nd shot...I'd say about 50% of folks I know who had it had chills/fatigue about 12-36 hours after the shot.

I figured it might be like one of the proverbial Old Wives Tales, you know, the ones where you want a person's temp to go up as it is the body's counterattack to kill the virus by making the environment unsuitable for the virus, so don't take Tylenol. But then you die because you fry your brain.
Or, is there something to that as well?

I’ve always read that a mild or low grade fever is a good thing when fighting off a virus. 100 to 101 or so, then let it go and let your immune system work. If it’s going higher than 101.5 or so then take a fever reducer. It’s also a good idea to take a fever reducer when necessary to help get rest if the fever is interfering with a deep sleep.

Got mine this morning. Pfizer (yay, really did not want Moderna). Arm is a little sore, I imagine it will be worse tomorrow. Shot did not hurt at all, and I hate IM shots. I don’t really like giving them either. Much happier sticking the jugular (horses are easy). And I would way rather have a needle stuck in a vein in my arm or my hand, which actually is more painful, at least initially. Not sure why, Something about all those little muscle cells being pushed apart by some foreign liquid eeeks me out. I know it’s weird. Amazing that I made it through vet school.

I got my 2nd Pfizer vaccination yesterday AM. The only thing I noticed was that, after I finished the 15 minute "observation" period, when I stood up, I got a bit light-headed. It passed after about 5 seconds and I thought nothing of it.

Yesterday, I was just a bit fatigued, but nothing different from a crappy night's sleep.

Today, I'm just "not myself." No energy. Not really fatigued, but firing on only about 5 cylinders (3 if turbo). I was going to assemble a bed today and make dinner, and ended up saying "Screw it. I'll to it tomorrow and we're ordering in."

Weird. Nothing specific, just not completely normal.

So I read George’s part and thought it said “I passed out after 5 seconds and thought nothing of it.” 😳😄

@lufins-dad because that one seems to have more reactions/side effects, as I understand it. (Maybe I’m wrong?) And I really really don’t want anything worse than a sore arm and a little fatigue (I get migraines fairly easily these days). I think my arm is going to be pretty sore tomorrow - as it’s already more sore than my flu shot was.

@jodi Thanks! I was just curious. I’ve been hearing that the potential for side effects is about the same between both.

@lufins-dad You may be right. What I wonder if what the difference is (side effect-wise) between those who have had covid and get vaccinated, and those who have not had covid and get vaccinated.

Steve just came home - he says he is starting to feel aches all over. (He was a lot sicker than I was when he got COVID).

@brenda he’s fine. He was sore with aches the first night, and neither one of us slept much, but then he was the same as me, just a little sore. Yay. Hopefully shot number two will be just as easy!
