Glad you got it done, Jolly. Will your bride also have hers done soon?

Finally got her on three different lists. Her docs have been apoplectic...She's one of those folks like Jon, who should have been a higher priority.

A D&D friend of mine works for a pharma company. Only he's not a sales rep, lobbyist or anything like that. Works remotely.

He called up the state hotline to figure out if his girlfriend (wife? I can never keep these things straight) was currently eligible. Which got them talking about his eligibility. They said he'd probably be eligible right now due to where he works.

"But I don't interact with people or anything like that."
"Yeah, you don't have to mention that. Just get your appointment and bring your employment info with you and they'll be fine with that."

Can you believe that shit? That's the process. He wondered what to do and said he kind of has a problem with taking the spot of someone who should be at a higher priority.

I told him he might as well go for it, because it's no guarantee at all he'll be taking the place of someone more deserving. Just as likely he'll be going in the stead of someone else who shouldn't yet be on the list, but is anyway due to shenanigans.

    Please love yourself.

My second dose (Pfizer) was on Tuesday. I experienced a slightly sore arm at the injection site. I felt a little light headed for a short time, but that was all. If anything, the side effects seemed less than the first.

I have a friend in that category, too. Her hubby has gotten both of his shots, and she hasn't had any yet. Her health is far more fragile than his, but he does the errands for them , so he has more risk of getting the virus. It's a lottery system here for each tier or category of people. He was one of the very first ones here to get it, and she is still waiting to start. They're the same age, thus the same tier.

I got the test last Saturday, where they ram this cotton swab Q-tip up your nose until it comes out your ear. Didn't like it at all.

Regarding the vaccine, I read somewhere that if you feel sick after getting the vaccine, that's good, because it mean your body is reacting and building antibodies or something. If you don't feel a bit lousy, the vaccine is not doing its job.

The above is enough to have our resident physicians to chime in with anger to correct a layman's nonsense. But seriously, is there anything to the reason some people feel so lousy, while others' feel just fine, other than, "well, that's just the way it is."

This video is central to the Oregon Covid web site. I thought I'd post it here for your collective enjoyment, or perhaps more interestingly, for erudite feedback spotting BS.
Listening to the soft, confident voices of Fauci et al. brings me comfort. There is no way a virus could overwhelm such voices, a virus, any virus, would be scared to death of such confidence in regards to developing an RNA type of vaccine. Little virus, uses a tiny little gun, to commit virus suicide.
                Thanks, Fauci!!

Second Pfizer shot and other than feeling a bit tired the next day, nothing. The fatigue could have been from 20 hours behind the wheel.

The stories I have heard first hand are all over the map and I don’t see any pattern.

The conclusion that if you feel fine that it’s not working so well feels like utter BS

I did not get one yet and while I know how to get one I have not been willing to do it -only for ethical reasons. If I saw a fresh syringe on the street I would self administer. All these states just let you self attest and don’t ask questions even as recently as this past Saturday.

The place I got it was just for my doctor's patients who had pre-registered. They asked a bunch of questions about my health. I completed a questionnaire on-line before I went. I showed my medicare card as id.

I will never have side effects, since I'll never get the damn shot.

                                Oregon's 2-step foolproof system continues:

                                1. Sign up for your vaccine, you're eligible!
                                2. We don't have any.

I got my second Moderna on Friday. Stiff arm started that night, and then the entire next day I was knocked on my ass. Fever, aches all over, and I slept most of the day.

Mostly at full energy on Sunday, and fully recovered by today.

The variability of side-effects is just amazing. I had nothing from the first dose of Pfizer (#2 tomorrow). Mrs. George had some weird tongue pain after #1, but nothing other than minor fatigue after #2.

                                    Weird.

@George-K Good luck tomorrow! I know many folks who had Pfizer and most had no major effects after the 2nd dose. Maybe slightly tired the next day? As compared to the Moderna 2nd shot...I'd say about 50% of folks I know who had it had chills/fatigue about 12-36 hours after the shot.

I’ve always read that a mild or low grade fever is a good thing when fighting off a virus. 100 to 101 or so, then let it go and let your immune system work. If it’s going higher than 101.5 or so then take a fever reducer. It’s also a good idea to take a fever reducer when necessary to help get rest if the fever is interfering with a deep sleep.

Got mine this morning. Pfizer (yay, really did not want Moderna). Arm is a little sore, I imagine it will be worse tomorrow. Shot did not hurt at all, and I hate IM shots. I don’t really like giving them either. Much happier sticking the jugular (horses are easy). And I would way rather have a needle stuck in a vein in my arm or my hand, which actually is more painful, at least initially. Not sure why, Something about all those little muscle cells being pushed apart by some foreign liquid eeeks me out. I know it’s weird. Amazing that I made it through vet school.
