I got a great massage from a tall blond stewardess in first class one night. Probably as close as I’ll get to that.

@doctor-phibes she was better looking than any woman who ever looked at you.

I have always thought a 5th wheel and truck made the most sense. If looked after, the trailer unit keeps its value longer over time. A well maintained 3/4 or 1 ton truck also have a decent used vehicle market value. The same cannot be said for RVs.

Having said that, my preference would be always be a truck bed camper. I sold my camper this year for exactly what I paid for it 24 years ago. I still have the 3/4 ton 4X4 long box truck.

You could stay in a lot of really swanky hotels before you'd spent $2 million, plus you wouldn't have to clean out your own septic tank.

And buy your own linens and cookware!

              A suite at the Ritz Carlton....about $750 a night, let's say.

              $2,000,000/750 = about 7.4 years.

Of course, room service and tips are extra.

Take the $2,000,000 and invest it at a nice safe 5% then use the $100k in interest to live in an all inclusive resort in the Bahamas indefinitely.

Any form of living that doesn't have enough space for a decent grand piano is not for me.

Seriously, though: If I'd want to go on vacation for a year, I'd take a normal car and rent houses/apartments/... as needed. Much more comfortable. I've rented a trailer for a vacation a few years ago. It was a "never again" experience. The things that annoyed me most would be the same in an RV, even when it's a $2M RV.

The old adage about the three "Fs" might apply to RV's as well.

Although my friend found it impossible or ridiculously expensive to rent for a year. I forget which.

He actually broke even on his sale, probably lucky timing.

                        You were warned.

I broke even (roughly) owning 3 airplanes over a few years.

But you can't put a price on the fun.

Flying your plane all over the place is worth something.

I very much doubt that as a 70 year old retiree I will walk into my newly acquired RV and find that inside.

I've got a couple friends that park them nearly year round at a local race track. They use their very little for actual traveling, so that cuts down on the maintenance. I must say, they do make for nicer than average porta-potties.

If living for months at a time at different locations were my thing, I'd just go for owning a small, cheap to maintain house/condo as a base, and travel as necessary. There seems to be no shortage of places to rent while traveling.

This is what I would like to do - slow travel thing. Have a home base that can be easily left, and then go somewhere, stay for as long as I like (weeks or months) and then go back to base or to another place.

Some friends of a friend are revamping an old school bus and turning it into a RV. I haven't seen there specifically, but there are some pretty cool revamps that people have done.

I will talk to my friend and see if they have any pictures of what they do so far.

Below is an example of one I have seen on the internet.
