Wait... Is he talking about sending out 2K checks ON TOP of the $600 already sent?! Not just bumping them $1400 more?!

That’s what I understood too, although he was not explicit.

That’s what I had originally thought, too, but an article I read suggested otherwise. I will try to find it.

What do guys think about the chances of that “$1.9 Billion” plan will get through the Senate?
Will the Senate Republicans shut it down or reduce it sharply like they did previous Democratic COVID-19 economic stimulus proposals, say with Joe Manchin’s support? Or will more GOP support a big economic stimulus package knowing that they cannot avoid a vote (I doubt the Democrats will bring back that 60-vote filibuster rule, so the Democratic Senate leader can and will bring it up for a vote) and the Senate GOP hopes sending big checks to Americans will rehabilitate the GOP’s image somewhat after the Jan.6 Capitol incident?

Which is the worst possible reason for Congress to spend money.

I get the money for people who lost their jobs. Is the theory for the others that they will spend it and jump start the economy?

Somewhere I read that most of that money was spent on savings and paying off debt.

Me too. I get it for those in trouble. I don't get throwing it out to everyone. There are an awful lot of people who did not lose their jobs and are not hurting. To increase the debt to send them money seems unwise.
But it's not just that. He's going to cut poverty by 1/3. He's going to upgrade infrastructure, increase R&D investment and bring manufacturing back to America and he's going to make companies and the rich pay 'their fair share'.
Like I said, his mouth is writing checks his office can't cash.

Actually I don't think it was the stimulus, but his narrative about how America is not about those living off investments and criticizing those who look to the market to see how we are doing. In other words, the productive.
Good job, Joe. Not even in office and already tanking the market through jitters.

Oh no! We're back to Tuesday last week.
I kid, Ax. I know there's lots of theorizing going on about how the stimulus affects the market.
