We are providing the piano for John Legend and a few of the other acts performing at the Lincoln Memorial at the inauguration. This is shutting our delivery and service departments down for three days. We are charging what would seem to be an obscene amount for a one day rental, but it’s resulting in us having 5 guys put up in a DC hotel for 3 days, go through multiple COVID tests, and it’s taking away 15% of our January delivery and service opportunities...

That is so cool and thanks for sharing what goes into this.

@Loki @89th It’s not very cool in my book. We put together a logistical plan that would have cost us 10 hours. The plan was approved by the security people, but the bean counters decided differently. Now my sales staff is losing three days of deliveries which costs them income.
Charge more? That an option?

I’m sorry I thought from reading your post that you had built that all into your price.

@loki We capture some back, but not all, plus Salespeople don’t get paid on what the service department makes..:
Extraordinary circumstances. House deal. Pain and pleasure distributed evenly.

To say this is overkill is an understatement b
Maybe not, at least not by much. Maybe. I remember reading about the security coverage for Obama, and being surprised at how heavy it was. I especially remember reading that it extended all the way to New Jersey!

Remember when Trump wanting to call in the National Guard because violent mobs were trying to attack the White House and wanted to kill him and it was called fascism and cowardly? Good times...

@horace But you're not old enough to remember what happens when our capitol is assaulted, since you weren't alive in 1814.
Our Capitol has been assaulted often over the last 50 years. The difference is this time was somewhat successful..,
-
@lufins-dad Ok change 'assaulted' to 'breached by a malevolent force' in my last post.

That’s much different. The Capitol has been breached by a malevolent force every single day by Nancy Pelosi...
You might mean illegally breached by a malevolent force... Well, that’s likely also been every single day by Nancy Pelosi...
If you meant illegally breached breached by a malevolent force and can be proven in a court of law, then we can agree...

Is "malevolent" the good guys, or the bad guys?
We've got a malevolent force every night here in Portland.
