    His election loss was a tremendous blow to him psychologically. He's been reeling. He's had defeats in the past, but has always been able to convince himself that none of it was his fault: self-exoneration. But this time, no matter what he did, the message kept coming back from every institution, every quarter: You lost, you lost, you lost -- repeatedly, unavoidably, inevitably.

    He has no foresight. You and I, we would think something like, "I might lost this contest; if I do, I'll do X." We would be prepared. I think Trump doesn't possess that mechanism. "I always find a way to win."

    So it's kind of anybody's guess what he will do from now on. I kind of think he'll sulk in his tent, but I make no predictions.

    We'll see a lot less bloviating, probably.

          Is there any sane argument behind believing this isn't a good idea?

          If he deserves to be President today, he should be there during the transfer of power.

          Johnson was not there for Grant. It's not required.

          I think it's only happened 3 times. Johnson was the latest (150 years ago?) and the other two times were when Beethoven could still hear.

            @copper Nixon attended Kennedy’s Inaugural

            Unfortunately Kennedy did not make it to Nixon’s.

                          I am one that thinks he should be there. Not only for the office of President, but to show the transition is as "smooth" as it could be after all that has happened.

                              I think it's incumbent on him to go and behave.

                              He thinks there was fraud, so he tried what he could legally to overturn that and then some. But it's over now. Even he said that.

                              If he can't go and behave (i.e., be the President), he should resign today.
